An impressive 19th Century country mansion sitting in 262 acres of Cheshire countryside...
Shrigley Hall Hotel is an impressive 19th Century country mansion sitting in 262 acres of Cheshire countryside. The hotel sits high above the estate on the edge of the Peak District National Park, and has exceptional views. It is almost impossible to imagine that this peaceful hotel is within easy access of major cities such as Manchester and Sheffield, and the M1 and M62 motorways.
Historically a private family house, Shrigley Hall opened as a hotel in 1989 and was carefully restored to its original beauty. It also has an excellent 18-hole championship golf course and outstanding health and leisure facilities.
The beautiful Oakridge restaurant offers guests a relaxing ambience with great food. Offering a wide selection of tradtional and international dishes, it is a popular retreat for residents and non-residents to the hotel alike.
The Bodysense Health & Leisure Club is located on the ground floor of Shrigley Hall. Combining the latest in gym technology with a friendly, expert service, Bodysense is more than just a workout, it's about enjoying exercise and "Feeling the Benefit." |

LOCATION
Shrigley Hall Hotel is in the heart of rural Cheshire, with spectacular views overlooking the Cheshire Plain. Only 20 minutes from Manchester International Airport. Host to the Cheshire & Lancashire PGA Strokeplay Championship. Societies and visitors are extended a warm welcome and are assured of excellent organisation and administration. Feature holes.
The feature hole on the front nine is the par 3 160 yards, 8th hole. It has water waiting on three sides and the green is set against the back drop of forest pines. On the back nine, the feature hole is undoubtedly the testing 18th - a sweeping dog-leg, par 5. Bordering the Oakridge Woodland, which is home to family of deer, the green is situated treacherously near to the hotel's carp lake.
More than just a golf club; you can enjoy a neck & shoulder massage, provided by Shrigley Hall's fully qualified massuers before or after your game. And whilst you relax over dinner, have your clubs and shoes cleaned ready for the next round. The clubhouse offers a members' bar, with balcony overlooking the 18th and the Fairways Suite.
Surrounded by delightful parkland and lakes on the edge of the Peak District, Pott Shrigley offers countless walking and rambling routes. There are some outstanding tourist attractions nearby including 11 historic houses and gardens, theme parks and museums.
For a shopping spree, Manchester city centre boasts upmarket shops and department stores, and the Trafford Centre is a shopping mall with something for everyone. The historical walled city of Chester is approximately an hour's journey and mixes designer shops with ancient ruins, and offers a pleasant promenade beside the River Dee.
One of the most popular family attractions in the area is Chester Zoo, just north of the city. Or visit Alton Towers in Staffordshire. The Peak District national park with its limestone rocks has numerous mines to visit, the most famous of which is the Blue John Cavern.

"Favourite hotel yet!"
Stayed here for surprise anniversary getaway! Were given large 4 poster room, in corner room - great views. Hotel oozed of old world character, not found in normal hotel chains we have stayed in. Whole location was very romantic and idylic. Enjoyed evening meal and breakfast, although those arriving after us had serious wait, as full hotel seemed to be eating at same time! Leisure centre was amazing, set in church. The overall decor was aged and shabby, bathrooms needing modernised, but building and features more than made up for this.
Word of warning - do not eat in bar area! £5.00 for bowl of luke warm soup and £9 for chilled fish and chips!! Other than that, enjoyed the stay greatly and definately returning!!

"Excellent!"
Am puzzled about the negative reviews on your site.
We travel extensively all over the world and were delighted with our beautiful room, staff, food and cleanliness at Shrigley.
We were going to a wedding nearby and the whole experience is a wonderful memory.
On the day of the wedding we breakfasted (delish and large variety) visited the spotlessly clean health club where staff were v. helpful and cheerful. We went on to the wedding, returned to a tray and beverages left out for us (complimentary) a comfortable bed and loads of hot water, fluffy towels and samples for our ablutions.
Staff offered to carry our luggage and were especially charming on reception (Niall, a super bloke).
Magnificient building with sparkling chandeliers, as seasoned travellers, we were impressed. |
