"The best, none the less."
One of the most amazing hotels we've ever been to. A feng-shui meets modern design, vivid colors. The best location you can ask for - just a 2 minute walk from Vaci Utza and Metro No. 1 (yellow line), and a step from the beautiful river (and of course - you can get a room with a view to the river... just watch everything light up at night). Friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, the beds are so comfortable!!!
We've walked around and checked out the Intercontinental, Le Meridien, Four Seasons, etc... they're all old fashion and boring. Take a good advice - stay here!!

"Great location, great bed"
This was my first time in Budapest and chose the hotel because I got a weekend get-away deal. It ended up being a fantastic location. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go on both the Buda and Pest sides. Breakfast was included in the package and we really enjoyed it. I'm not sure I'd pay full price for it though.
I also loved the feather bed, comforter, and pillow. I slept great!
Everything else was overpriced (internet, movies etc) as you would expect at this type of hotel. While you get the complimentary use of robe and slippers they are skimpy on anything else that's complimentary like water bottles or the in-room tea and cofee. They did have a hot pot and cups in the room so bring your favorite tea. Also don't ask the concierge for help if you're looking for something off the beaten track. She sent us to the normal tourist-trap locations with the prices to match.
It's not the Four Seasons but it was comfortable, very clean, and a great location.

"A hotel to remember!"
Stayed here for a long weekend in May 07. Couldn't fault the place. Lady at check-in was friendly and she made an effort to chat to us about our home town when she heard we were from Dublin. In fact everybody on the staff, from bell boys to waiting staff to housekeeping, were efficient and friendly.
When we got to the room, we were dying to see if the beds were as comfortable as others were saying and yes, my god they were - the mattress toppers were so dozily divine that we ended up taking a couple of unscheduled afternoon snoozes!
The atrium design of the lobby is pretty amazing, there's a great vista of the ground floor when you look out over the upper balconies.
The Paris Budapest bar was hip yet comfortable, though on a Saturday night at 10pm it was rather dead, with only a handful of other punters. But this overall quietness did seem to permeate most of the other venues we visited that weekend. There just didn't seem to be anywhere that was particularly 'kicking', that we could find in Pest.
Along the riverbank just round the corner of the hotel, there's a number of eateries/cafes with outside terraces overlooking the Danube and the Chain Bridge. Our favourite of these was Fresco - they had a reasonably good selection of food including sandwiches for when you get tired of all the goulash!
All in all a wonderful hotel experience at the Sofitel!

"Budapest, magic city"
Budapest is a beautiful city. The Sofitel is a beautiful Hotel, in the inside because from the outside it looks like an old soviet building in the middle of the wonderful architecture of Budapest.
The Sofitel is a luxury modern Hotel. All facilities including a Casino for amateur.
Facilities inside the rooms are amazing, flat tv and comfortable bed. Sofitel standards.

"Best Beds anywhere"
The hotel was modern and immaculate. Be sure to get a river-view room for the view. The beds were supremely comfortable, and the room had a 36" LCD TV. Room service was great. The restaurants were pricey so we ate out. A terrific location close to everything, and trams and the subway are just a moment away.

"The best I've ever been to"
I stayed for one night in a single room. I travel a lot and I must say that this hotel was the best I've ever been to. The room was excellent with the most comfortable beds ever. Wonderful breakfast with wide range of food to choose. The only contra was the price though I think it was worth it.

Excellent location for sightseeing and shopping. A pity you have to pay extra for Danube view! Rooms well furnished, bed the most comfortable ever! Staff attentive and helpful. Breakfast adequative, but quite expensive.
All you would expect from an international 5* hotel - a bit impersonal, but excellent value if booked in advance through GTA. |

sofitel budapest
Stayed at the hotel for four nights. The service was excellent as well as the restuarant. It is like a demonstration cooking restaurant, if you sit in the non-smoking section. Quite a show to see.
The room had a wonderful view of the Danube as well as the "Chain Bridge." |

"Fantastic view, excellent service, high prices"
Spent two nights on the Panorama Lounge level in a River View room. Room is small but the furniture and the decorations are luxurious. The bath is top quality, the soaps and shower creams smelled fantastic. The view from the window is breathtaking. The breakfast is unbelievable. The guy, who makes the omelets, is superb. |
