"A real gem"
The hotel was booked for me by a local organization, and so I expected a discount or mid-range property. It turned out to be one of the best hotel stays of my life, not a mid-range property at all -- and that is based on 150+ hotel nights per year for the last 15 years. The restaurant is excellent, the rooms comfortable and immaculately clean, the front desk as pleasant and obliging and generous with their time as they could possibly be. In a week's stay, there were no hiccups whatever. For part of my stay, I was upgraded to the "executive" floor; it was fine, and the club room was pleasant, but frankly the whole hotel is so special that I really didn't feel I needed it. I have never been more impressed with a property, anywhere.

I was a bit worried that there seemed to be no five star accommodation in Brisbane, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the Sofitel. It's obviously business oriented but it's in a great central location and has lovely rooms with everything you'd expect in a business hotel. The concierge staff were very friendly and helpful.

"Great location"
Recently we stayed at this former Sheraton, now a Sofitel hotel. Wanting a central downtown hotel with easy access to the airport train on departure, this hotel could not be located any better, sitting astride Brisbanes's main train station. Brisbanes's attractions such as Queen street pedestrian shopping zone, riverfront, southbank, and casino are only a few blocks away, easily reached on foot. The highrise hotel met all expectations of a classy hotel with a business clientele. Reservation and on arrival check-in were handled by friendly, efficient staff. Our room was well appointed. Most importantly, it was quiet as a church and trains passing underground could not be heard at all. A courtesy welcome drink coupon prompted us to sit by the large windows of the lobby bar, enjoying the view over Anzac Square and the city skyline beyond. We made use of the business center and room service, and found both most satisfactory. Transfer to the airport on the airport train could not have been more convenient, involving just an escalator ride down to the station. We certainly will stay at this hotel again on our next trip.
