"Fantastic Nile views, right in the middle of the river"
First of all, this hotel is no longer with the Sheraton group. It is part of the French hotel chain "Accor" and is now called simply the El Gezirah. We were upgraded to a 17th-floor Nile-view room. Small, with plumbing that worked but on the verge of collapse, but also with astonishing views and a nice little balcony, which was accessible and a great place to go out to if you do not suffer from vertigo! The hotel is built on the southernmost tip of Zamalek Island, next to the water. The kebab restaurant has tables right on the Nile and it is a very enjoyable place to have dinner, especially if you are not vegetarian. Breakfast is good and a cook will prepare your eggs to order. Some hotel staff could be a bit friendlier. Being in the middle of the Nile also spares guests much of the city noise, which in Cairo is not a negligible factor.
