Room OK but nothing special. Breakfast disapointing and not worth the 26 euro per person i paid.

"Great views"
If you can get one of the few balcony rooms, this hotel has the most spectacular views of the harbour and the forts. It also has valet parking, really nice staff and is a great deal if you have an Accor Favourite Guest card as discount is up to 50 percent at weekends. It is an easy walk into the centre of town and there are lots of restaurants close by - but avoid the pricey ones right on the port. Better value and better food one street back on the same side as the hotel.

We were apprehensive about our visit to Marseille because of the many negative comments about the city's crime levels, dirty streets, and unkept historic sights. We found most of this to be true, but the Sofitel Vieux Port was a welcome relief from the port area itself. Located almost adjacent to the Jardin du Pharo the hotel is only an easy 15 minute walk from the heart of the port and the ferry boat to take you across the port to the historic spots in the old city. One of the most unique spots in Marseille, and I think maybe in all of France, is the St. Victor Basilica - just about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Do not miss the crypt in this basilica if you are ever in Marseille! The hotel's staff was extremely friendly and the rooms are excellent and spacious with very comfortable beds. As mentioned in other posts, if you can get one of the rooms with a balcony overlooking the port the views are unbelievable. If not, the panoramitic view from the 4th floor restaurant, especially as the sun begins to set, are breath taking. Just be careful if you choose to have dinner there - the food is outstanding but the prices are high, with fixed price menus at 52 euros and 80 euros.

"Worth the splurge"
We stayed in this hotel on our first night in France. It was the perfect place to stay after our exhaustion. We found it easily, they had a valet and check-in was easy. Having been traveling for 15 hours and awake for 24, it was nice to just roll into the hotel, get a room and be spoiled. The rooms are quite lovely. Beautiful provencal decor throughout the hotel. The rooms are no exception. The beds in the rooms are like sleeping on a cloud! The most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. We upgraded and got a room with a view of the port and this was worth it. Since we were only there 1 night, it was nice to be able to see Marseille through our droopy eyelids. It is away from the hustle, which is nice as the port is extremely busy! However, it is a bit of a walk to get to all the activity. But well worth it. Other hotels that I had remembered seeing in my research were right in the middle of all the people and traffic and would have been noisy. We ate dinner at the hotel out on their patio. It was a wonderful ambience, but the food was mediocre. All the staff were extremely helpful some speaking a bit of English which was nice on our first night there.
