Upon reopening in mid-December 1999, after an extensive restoration and renovation, the St. Regis Grand Rome reclaimed its status as the finest hotel in Rome and one of the best in the world. This honor has been re-emphasized by recently being named to Conde Nast Traveler's 2002 Gold List. As a focal point of Rome's diplomatic and political life, St Regis is proud to host many national and international dignitaries, heads of state, business executives, and widely known celebrities.

"Words cannot describe the greatness of this hotel"
We have just returned after 6 days/5 nigths at the St. Regis and I have to say that no words can describe the outstanding service at this hotel - or should I say home, because that is how it feelt. What makes this hotel is the staff - courtious, helpful, kind, educated and friendly. The staff at St. Regis obviously love to work there and are not in hospitality because they have to be. We were travelling as a family with two small children and we were welcomed in Italy from the moment we arrived at the airport. At the hotel we were upgraded to a junior suite and immidiately when we arrived in our room the butler came to unpack our luggage and offer us coffee. The butler services was outstanding and personal. Always smiling. My husband turned 40 during our stay and on the day we recieved wine and the butlers came with cake and sang for him,-) Can you imagine the joy our girls felt;-) The concierge - Mr Mario - was of great help booking restaurants for us and recommending sites etc. We had dinnner one evening at Mirabelle at the Splendid Royal hotel - the view from this Michelin star restaurant is just breathtaking. While dining on the roof terresse you may enjoy a sun set behind the St. Peters church and all of Rome is at your feet. What more can you ask for? For an informal familiy dinner I would recommend Giglio restaurant in via Torino - super service and very family friendly - like the rest of Rome actually! Also, do go the the zoo - a great childrens zoo in the heart of Rome and the Vila Borgese park. You can rent bikes here and have great fun. Don't let any one tell you that Rome is not for small kids - it is great and when we came home today all our 3 year old could say was 'I want to go back to the hotel'! The suite was fine - I have stayed at better equiped hotels I must admit but I will always return to St. Regis - my new second home in Rome. We had room 103 and the view was not that good. Also we did lack room for all our clothes - but had we asked I am sure they would have come up with a solution for us;-) Security is superior - the police was there all the time due to VIPs in residence. Note the bullet proof glass doors on some of the suite doors......... The location is very good - not too close to all the touristy sites - thank god. The Westin is on the 'street of 5 star hotels' but is is very flash and 'new rich' I think. St. Regis is low key subtle luxury for the people in the know!

"A true palace"
I have spent five days at the Grand Hotel. Extraordinary reconstitution of an early 2Oth century palace hotel. Service is kind, not arrogant at all. Concierge very good at recommanding places for dinner. Large room (we were upgraded to an "imperial" room at arrival), extremely well kept and comfortable. Location is so-so : close to the horrendous Termini area, but also at a decent walking distance of main shopping areas; anyhow, taxis are cheap.

"fantastic"
Well I have never posted a review before but had such a great 5 day break at the St Regis Grand it had to be done. I stayed there 25th to 29th May for my wifes birthday(it was a surpirse trip) I was very impressed with the Hotel. The room was a double deluxe not a massive room but it had a small sitting area, huge bed with fresco's on the walls and high cellings. The marble barthroom was lovely with it's huge shower separate bath and marble sinks. We normally like to stay in modern contemporay rooms but I decided that on this occasion that we would stay in a classical Rome style room and this did not dissappoint. The staff could not do enough for you and found them very pleasant and help full. Breakfast - Very enjoyable with a varied continental style available although I did see an American guy compliain about the lack of cheeses. My only negaitive( or warning) is the restaurant in the evening is very expensive, we ate there possibly first night for a light meal, my wife had a toasted sandwich with cheese, mushroom and ham with fries on the side, I had a chicken salad( four small pieces of chicken) two classes of coke the bill was 75 euro. There are plenty of good restaurants in Rome and much better value than the hotel. The location is ideal spot just minutes from the repubblica metro line, Just be brave and go for it when crossing the road outside. The trip was fantastic and would will finish by recommend an amazing restaurant perfect for that special occasion Les Etolies is the place, overlooking St Peters Basillica (ask for a window table) the food was amazing and compared to the Hotel much better value for money.

"Fantastic Stay"
My wife and I stayed at the St Regis Rome over Christmas (and attended the New Year's Eve party at the hotel). The hotel is spectacular, very old world with some modern paintings. The service is exceptional--the hotel arranged a tour of Sistine Chapel with a tour guide who got us in about 10 min before the crowds arrived. Not cheap but well worth the price. The hotel is actually one of the better bargains for what you get: a grand setting within easy walking distance of everything you would want to see. The hermes bath products were a very nice touch and were replinished regularly. The bathroom was probably the best hotel bathrooms that I can recall---roomy, but not absurdly so: two sinks and a separate tub and shower and a separate toilet room. So often, older grand hotels have small, small bathrooms which always disappoints my wife. Not the case with the St Regis. The hotel was renovated sometime in 2000 (I think) and they clearly spent time on updating the size of the bathrooms. We stayed in a deluxe king room and it was well suited for two people. A roll-away bed would be possible but would make the room snug. I would definately have breakfast included in the room rate--if purchased separately it would have been quite expensive. It is served in the lobby (a grand setting for breakfast) and is almost enough to carry you through to dinner. My parents returned to the hotel this past Christmas and had a similarly great experience. In short a grand hotel that, altough expensive, is well worth the money. Also, the New Years party at the hotel was fantastic.

"a unique experience"
We stayed at the St Regis Grand for a weekend in April 2007. This is a really luxurious hotel, built in 1894 by Cesar Ritz and renovated in 1999, but still keeping this aura of that old era. Every room is different to others, having a painting of a landmark of Rome and named after it. The room is furnished with classical pieces, of late 19th/early 20th century style. However, beds are extraordinarily comfortable and every need you may have is lavishly catered for - expensive toiletry items from Hermes, large 32 inch 16:9 LCD TV, DVD player, high speed internet connection etc. etc.. The lobby is impressive, same are the banquet and meeting rooms, reminding of a rennaissance palace. Rooms are expensive - but they are worth it. You may meet celebrities: during our stay Robert De Niro was allegedly staying in the Royal Suite. The property is located next to Piazza de la Repubblica (metro station), 10 minutes walking distance to Via Veneto and 15 minutes to the Spanish steps. Definetely recommended.

Beautifully restored. Sumptuous decor. Charming, romantic and representative of what a great European hotel should be. Ciao!

"Gorgeous"
We stayed at the St. Regis for 4 nights in November. It is an extremely elegant and beautiful hotel. The lobby and restaurant are very grand and the room was probably one of the most elegant and large I have ever stayed in. We stayed in a Imperial suite I loved the chocolate and fruit welcoming us and the Hermes bath items were fun too. My mom stayed in a Junior suite and she got Acqua di Parma bath goodies(it's the little things!). The location was ok- I have two small children and we had to cab it and walk very far to see the sites and there weren't tons of restaurants. Overall a very pleasant stay!

"Excellent experience"
My wife and I stayed two nights on the weekend of December 2nd. You would have to look long and hard to find a more classically beautiful hotel. As Strarwood members we received a free upgrade (to a junior suite). The room was very nice, and much larger that expected. The bathroom was quite large as well. The suites are individually decorated with the name of the room corresponding with the wall painting over the bed. Not much of a view out the window, but come on...it's Rome. For a great view go for a walk! The hotel is a short 1-2 block walk from two Metro stations, and about a 10-15 minute walk from the Termini train station (we walked easily from the train station with our rolling luggage). Heads up...the weekend we were there was a train/bus strike. At random times they would just stop running and walk off. If you ask me a good dose of Ronald Reagan style of firing every one of the employees is long past being called for. For Dan Brown fans, one of the churches featured in his "Angels & Demons" book is across the street. If you can pay the rate ($400 plus) it is well worth it!

"one word ..fab"
Spent 3 nights in this fantastic hotel in November with my boyfriend. Had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. The lobby is amazing and I recommend going for a nice cool beer after walking around Rome you will get lovely choice of nuts and chips to go with your beer. The room was amazing and had the best pillows I have ever slept on! the only thing that got us was the cost..it was €8 for a small bottle of coke from the minibar! So I wouldn’t recommend if you are on a budget. But overall a really good hotel with excellent staff.
