"A great hotel in the old section of Istanbul"
After searching the web for days to find a hotel that offered location and style that would compliment the old section of Istanbul, I found the Sultanhan. My husband and I stayed six nights at this lovely boutique hotel May 9-15. It is a fairly new hotel decorated with antiques and beautiful fabrics and carpets. Much care has gone into the decorations and furnishings, as well as the comfort of the rooms. The bedding is luxurious and of the highest quality.
The owners own a wonderful carpet store next to the hotel that is filled with delightful antique carpets and wall hangings. We enjoyed having apple tea and learning about the antique designs of some of the most beautiful carpets that I have ever seen!
Buffet breakfast is served on the top floor overlooking the Aya Sophia , Blue,Mosque, and the Bosforus. What a beautiful way to start the morning! The service was superb and the omlets and pasteries delicious. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, and our room had a balcony overlooking the street. We opened the doors off the balcony in the evenings and enjoyed hearing the evening calls to prayer. An unforgetable way to experience the history of Istanbul!
The hotel also offers a "turkish bath" with extra services such as salt scrub and smoothing oil treatments., as well as massages. What a unique and relaxing experience.!

"Perfect location and a very good, highly recommended hotel"
Great setting for this above average hotel that delivers in all respects. Breakfast is most agreeable and rooms very comfortable and traditionally furnished with tasteful dark wood, thick fabrics and spotless marble bathrooms.
Location ideal for all the Sultanahmet sights and the right end of Divan Yolu for good (if a little pricey) watering holes and street cafés.
At around £100 it's less than the international branded hotels and more than the tourist class Ottoman mansions - the Sultanhan fills a niche between the two as a very agreeable boutique hotel that deserves to prosper in a crowded market.

"excellent hotel and excellent location with nice folks"
my wife and I stayed at this excellent hotel for our first visit (3 nights) to Istanbul, and were very pleased. Location is ideal for the major sites; room comfortable and quiet (except when the neighboring room screamed at and possibly hit their baby). The view from the roof is spectacuar, expecially at sunrise. restaurant food and service was excellent, but meals in the neighborhood weremore fun. Desk clerks were kind and helpful. Well worth staying at!
