Swallow Columba Hotel has a very friendly atmosphere which results in many repeat customers. With seventy six fully refitted bedrooms; a suite of dedicated, air conditioned meeting and banqueting rooms; a completely new Carvery Restaurant and the beautifully finished John Macnabs Bar & Bistro, the new Columba features four star standards of service and equipment. There will be movies, music and radio on demand in every bedroom. High speed internet connections are available throughout the hotel on either cabled or wireless access.

The Columba nestles on the banks of the River Ness, close to the city centre yet still on the quiet side of the river. There are views from the front of the hotel looking over the Ness and up to Inverness Castle. In the summer you can look out over the beautiful floral decoration which surrounds the Castle itself; in the winter the trees which line Ness Walk are decked with fairy lights which shimmer on the water as the Ness flows towards the Moray Firth. Of course, with an outlook like this it makes sense to take advantage of it! The conference suite in the Columba Hotel can be found on the first floor.

As you would expect from a building dating back to 1881, the suites feature ornate high ceilings and large bay windows offering plenty of natural light. To maintain the fresh, airy atmosphere all the rooms are fully air conditioned. The hotel itself has been completely refurbished with décor that combines traditional comfort with contemporary style.

"Excellent hotel"
Just returned from a four day special deal at the Columba Hotel Inverness sharing a family room with my wife and son. Had a great time. The room was well decorated and very comfortable even with the three of us in it. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. The carvery menu at dinner was excellent and the service first class. The town centre was only a short walk away and we had a very enjoyable stay. The only downside was the parking which is outwith the control of the hotel. In the street it costs £1 for 2 hours but there is a car park beside the cathedral, a short walk away, where it is £2 for all day. Fortunately my wife has a disabled badge which allowed us to park in the street outside the hotel all day for free. All in all we had an excellent experience.

"Great stay!"
We stayed at the Columba for two nights and booked the break through easy-breaks at a great price which included dinner. Checking in went fine, we were told we had been upgraded, a nice surprise! the hotel has a nice foyer and reception and looks to have been recently re-furbished. Upto the room, wow! much better than we thought, huge windows over-looking the water, nice drapes, big bed with nice linen, a fridge to store your own things in, nice tea tray, comfy chairs, good lighting and a great tv system enabling you to watch newly released films, listen to cd's and surf the net (for a charge) The only slight negative was the small bathroom although very clean was a bit dark The hotel was in a great location close to shops etc and has parking both outside (limited) and in a handy close-by car park. Dinner was good, there is an inclusive carvery menu and if you want anything from the other menu you can pay a small supplement. The first night was good I choose a starter from a la' carte menu a lovely mushroom and blue cheese dish and my husband had a nice starter from the carvery menu. He asked for a t-bone steak for his main course (from the a la' carte) but sadly they had run out, so we both ate from the carvery. As well as the usual carved meat and veg there were also many other dishes to choose from, a fish dish, veggie option a nice beef dish and we were both happy with our choices. For dessert we had a brandy snap basket and cream concoction from the carvery menu, it was lovely. We decided to have a room service breakfast the next day and it was great, it arrived on time was piping hot and everything was correct and nicely served. While we were out the room was nicely serviced and made up. Dinner the second night was even better (the restaurant is very nice, modern, well lit) the waitress told us that the chef had made sure a steak was available should my husband want one, a nice touch! My husband had a chicken caesar salad to start, very nice and I had soup, both from the carvery menu, he then had a steak, cooked just as he asked, (from the a la' carte) and I had roast pork from the carvery, again there was a big selection of things to choose from and I was invited to help myself to anything, the Dauphinoise Potatoes were mouth watering and on a return visit to the carvery table for more I remarked to the chef on how my husband was missing out, without hesitation he served my husband a dish of them! we both ate dessert from the carvery menu and again it was lovely. We decided to eat breakfast in the restaurant the next morning and not in our room since we felt the restaurant had such a nice atmosphere, the staff in the whole hotel seemed so pleasant and genuinely seemed to want us to enjoy ourselves. We will certainly stay again and I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
