LOCATION
The Barns Hotel is situated on a beautiful riverside, with its pleasantly landscaped gardens. The historic market town of Bedford built upon the banks of the River Great Ouse is centrally located to London, Oxford and Cambridge. Bedford owes its origins and continued development to the river and remains one of the most important and attractive features of the town. Through the centuries strong characters have emerged to lead and shape the town such as John Bunyan the 17th century writer and preacher author of The Pilgrims Progress. Sir William Harpur, John Howard the prison reformer and Archbishop Trevor Huddleston who campaigned against the apartheid. The town was granted a charter in 1166 and hosts a general market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a gourmet market on Thursdays, a flower and plant market on Fridays and not forgetting the farmers market on the second Thursday in the month. Today Bedford is a lively cosmopolitan town ideally situated for history, leisure, the arts, culture and quiet unspoilt countryside. With a rich history and heritage, which is celebrated in a programme of festivals and events, such as the Bedford River Festival, the International Kite Festival and the Victorian Christmas Fair.PROPERTY AMENITIES
