"Great Hotel"
After reading the reviews on the Blake, I was prepared for the worst. We were booked through work and were thus unable to alter the reservation. After being here, however, I don't understand what the negative reviews are about except that perhaps many were written pre-renovation. The hotel is exceptionally comfortable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Great exercise room and bar/lounge, and I loved the little snack shop open 24 hours. I'm a bit phobic of germs, but I was very comfortable here. The rooms, hallways, and lobby are clean. The elevators still need a little work, but I was certainly not startled by any uncleanliness. The bathroom shows a little wear, but what can we expect in a hotel that's not brand-new. Very charming place, and central to a great city. Enjoy!

"Great Price for a NEAR great hotel."
Well, we got the room for $63 a night. It is a 4 Star Hotel under renovations. Right in Uptown Charlotte, with no FREE parking. It cost 6 dollars a night and is a very far walk especially with luggage and a 9 month old baby. I took that issue into my own hands and drove up on a curb and around the employee parking barrier. Before booking the hotel, I asked about continental breakfast. They said its Free. But... I was not under the impression Continental Breakfast was just a Rock Hard Cold Bagel with Cream Cheese that was not to be seen insight and had to ask for it all the time. Access cards for the rooms always had issues. The On demand movie selection was down at the hotel. The bathrooms has mildew and rust in the tubs and we have to put towels down before we stepped in there. The staff was very friendly however, even threw in a free refrigerator valued at $10 extra a night. Even thought it made drinks smell like chlorine as if they soaked the refrigerator in it. Elevators were crappy and hallways were semi-updated but still outdated. On to the good stuff overview. FLAT SCREEN TV's were nice, rooms were updated with king size bed and nice leather floor to ceiling headboards, with all new mahogany lather furniture. WIFI cost $10 a day but was bundled for $35 for 7 days. Pool tbale in lobby, lots of areas to walk around. Arcade lounge coming soon, Bar nicely decorated and will be open soon. Restaurant under construction. Now, after the moans and groans, it was well worth it and would stay again at that price. Uptown Charlotte go for $150-$400 a night and for $63, you can't beat it. Thats why I rated it above average. If you want Great Free Parking, Free Breakfast and Wifi in a New Development then stay in the Ballantyne Area.
Hope this helps!
