"Wonderful experience"
We stayed at the Piemonte for 1 night before and 2 after a week in Tuscany. The location is excellent, a short walk from the Termini train station. The rates are very reasonable. We were on the first floor both times and were told those rooms were larger by friends who stayed on the third floor. Room 111 has an extra large bathroom with shower and tub. The facility is clean and comfortable; breakfast is basic (cereal, rolls, cold meat and cheese, juice, coffee, tea, but no fruit). The front desk staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The legendary Giovanni who works at night, tries his best at English and is very entertaining. Mama Angela and Regina Restaurants are very close by, reasonably priced, and have good food. Ask for Ali Baba or James Bond at Mama Angela. We walked to the Coliseum and took the bus from Termini to the Vatican. I have already recommended this hotel to friends going to Rome in November and would certainly stay there again myself.

"Great hotel, good value."
This hotel is very convenieniently situated just a few minutes walk from the Termini train station. Although we had reservations about staying in this area and we were warned not to cross the Termini area at night we found the hotel to be in a quietish street and experienced no problems at all. The hotel felt very safe and secure.
Our room was very comfortable- clean, modern and recently refurbished to a high standard. The staff were very helpful. They recommended a restaurant called Severo 2000, a couple of blocks away, where we had two good meals. There was no need for us to cross the termini area at night in order to find good food.
The older man who works the night shift gave us slips of paper with helpful sightseeing advice on. Our only complaint is he told us the nearby 'Trattoria Dell'Omo' was a very good family run restaurant and on his advice we went there- it was the worst meal we had in Italy. The staff were rude, we waited an hour before they took our order, they gave us a basket of half eaten bread from another table and when the meal eventually arrived it was small, half cooked and cold- we left hungry- don't go there.
The hotel was conveniently situated for sightseeing. We did a tour of Rome on foot and also an open top hop-on-hop-off bus tour which starts at the Termini.
We would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Loved it!"
A fantasic medium sized hotel in the Termini area.
Rooms were spotless, Spacious & Not at all noisy. No interal noise what so ever and the electric shutters on the windows blocked all street noise.
As for the person who said the breakfast selection was poor??? Well you have the usual Ham's, Cheeses & Breads Also croisants and pastries, Fruit, Cerals, Coffee's & teas. That's a excellent selection to me!
The staff were extremely friendly! The night porter has a wealth of information.
I would stay at this hotel again without a moments thought. Rome is a fantastic city! Enjoy!

good location, never a four star hotel
very noisy room due to single glazing/draughty windows and a night club below the hotel. the breakfast was a poor continental breakfast although this was not specified at time of booking.the air conditioning was a free standing unit in the room which was so noisy you couldnt use it at night. overall it was adequate if it was rated properly and the customer was forewarned of its shortcomings. |

"Beautiful place to stay - Highly Recommended!"
We stayed for 4 nights in March. Fantastic location just next to Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert Museum. Tube station is very close too and if you want to go shopping, you don't have to walk for long. It is located in very nice and safe area. Rooms are very clean and room size correspondent to London standards. The front desk was manned sufficiently 24 hours a day and staff happy to help. On the arrival we were offered complimentary tea/coffee. We are happy that we stayed here and we plan to come back again!

"Great Hotel and Location"
I have to disagree with the last entry regarding this hotel. My daughters and I stayed at the Gainsborough for six nights. Found a great special rate on the internet. Since this was my 2nd trip to London I knew exactly where the hotel was located. It is one and a 1/2 blocks from the South Kensington Tube Stop. A little hard to find, but with help from a shop owner we were on our way and soon was at the door (a five minute walk). The location can't be beat. The hotel is a charming set of row houses. The entry is very appealing with the desk located in the center and sitting area on the side for tea or drinks in the afternoon. The staff was very friendly and could answer my questions and assist me with transportation to the airport. The breakfast room is located next to the front desk and the breakfast was included with the price of our room. Typical English breakfast is served or Continental breakfast is available. Our room was on the fifth floor and was comfortable for the 3 of us. We had a view of the London Eye and Big Ben could be see on a clear day. The bathroom was large and not at all like the typical rooms and baths found in Europe. Our only problem was that the heat was not working in our room and we had to have a portable heater to heat the room. Did not matter to us since we were only there during the night. It would get so warm we could turn it off to sleep. The problem was never solved during our stay and I pointed this out to the front desk. The windows do let in drafts when the wind blows. There is a portable air conditioner for the summer months. The elevator is not large and can only accommodate 4 people. All in all our stay was very nice and I will be staying there again and would recommend it as a clean, friendly hotel. Don't forget Americans are spoiled with hotels in the States. European hotels are differrent in their own way. There are many great restaurants around the corner. Chinese, Thai, Deli and Italian right at the Tube stop.

"A Warm and Nice Hotel perfectly located"
It is a very nice, warm hotel. The Lobby has been recently refurbished and looks very nice. Though the rooms are not very large, they are very comfirtable and very clean and beautifully decorated. You get value for money in this hotel. The staff ae friendly and helpful and the breakfast is excellent and is made on the spot. Having read earlier reviews i was scared to stay here, but it was a pleasant stay. The hotel seems to have taken the comments on board and we enjoyed our visit to London. I would definitely reccomend this Hotel to all travellers |
