"My favorite kind of hotel"
Hotels like this are the last of a breed, the old-world, traditional luxury accomodation, with beautiful furniture, elegant public areas, polite and cultured staff, fine towels, carpeting, bed fabrics. I stayed in their Grand room, a step above the basic, and it was quite elegant,a nd amply sized. it was immaculate in every way. The bathroom was equisite, a separate toilet room, a wonderful (and powerful) shower room, and fine Aqua de Parma shampoos and soaps. It's really nice when you enter your room and are followed in moments by a black-tied butler who offers to put your clothing away. He had my shirts ironed and returned to the room quickly, and was always on call at the touch of a very high tech touch screen control in the room. There is also a fine Sony LCD television.
This is an experience well worth the money. If you've never stayed somewhere like this, you owe it to yourself. It is so vastly superior to the likes of the Sheratons, Hiltons, Hyatts and Marriots!
I paid $550 thru American Express platinum travel, and got upgraded, plus received free breakfasts (which are around $50/person!), and a late checkout, plus an afternoon tea which I didn't bother with.
This is a fine hotel, on part with Claridges in London, and I feel very comfortable recommending it.
