"The Best in Italian Elegance & Hospitality!"
Very impressive! A big hotel with a bed & breakfast feel. Although we had the misfortune of arriving on the day of a 1-day national labor strike, the management worked tirelessly to get us checked into a room in a timely manner. We stayed in a charming corner suite on the south east side of the hotel - not much view, but quieter than staying on the much desired Via Veneto side (rooms ending in 41-51). Our king bed was created by moving 2 full beds together, but quite comfortable in the tradition of the Westin "Heavenly Bed" (the only "true" king beds, as well as whirlpool tubs, are in the most luxurious suites). The hotel is right next door to the American Embassy, and within walking distance of the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, high-end shopping on the Via Condotti, mid-priced shopping along the Via del Corso, great restaurants on the Via Veneto and the tallest palm tree in Rome (this 17th-century tree is still growing in the courtyard of the ultra-expensive George's Restaurant). For the active/adventurous and fitness buffs, you are close enough to the Villa Borghese and Gardens (jogging trails, racetrack, children's playgrounds), as well as neighborhood exploring around the Pantheon and the Piazza Navona. If you make it by foot to the Piazza Navona, you are now in proximity to a bridge across the River Tiber (Tevere in Italian) to Vatican City (but take a taxi back to the hotel from the Vatican as it is an uphill walk back). The hotel doesn't have any programs for children (their "Kid's Club" just means that they have the capability to provide necessary items such as cribs, guard rails, high chairs, bottles and bottle warmer, children's menu, etc.), but you can utilize the concierge to recommend great places to take your children, as well as excellent places for adults. Tip them generously, for their recommendations are excellent and priceless! The on-site restaurant provides a delightful combination of Mediterranean cuisine and Roman specialties (couldn't get enough of the extremely fresh fruit and mouth-watering lemon mousse), and you can sit at one of their sidewalk tables to people watch along the Via Veneto. Room service was quick, as well as the laundry service - just be prepared to bring your own travel iron (and converter) if you don't want to pay roughly $10 USD to have a skirt pressed. If you are a person who appreciates luxurious accommodations in the Empire and Biedermeier styles, then this is definitely the place to stay while in Rome. I highly recommend it and look forward to staying here again!

"Classy Old Hotel"
The hotel is located in an upscale area just a short walk from the Spanish Steps and numerous restaurants. It's on a very nice, tree lined street. Cabs and buses are available right around the corner. The hotel is old but beautiful. Our room was large, the marble bath was very large and well equipped. A beautiful view of the skyline of Rome from our balcony. Everything first class. The staff is helpful and they speak good English.

"Nice High-end Rome alternative"
We checked into the Westin Excelsior in Rome for a 3 night stay at the end of our Italy vacation. We had previously stayed at the Park Hyatt in Milan and the wonderful Westin Excelsior in Florence before heading to Rome. Overall the hotel was very nice and in a good location on Via Veneto and right next to the American Embassy. The location was nice but it definitely was not the most central location to the major sights in Rome. Then again not being in the middle of the crowds can be a good thing. Check-in went smoothly and we received a Grand Deluxe Guestroom upgrade as a Starwood Platinum member with a nice private patio. The view of the patio was not great but then again it was a private patio. Overall the guestroom was very nice and large with a flat panel tv and a nice if somewhat small marble bath. Only small issue I had with the room was that I wanted two more feather (down) pillows. Getting housekeeping to understand this was somewhat difficult but they got it worked out in the end. Unlike the previous poster, we were very happy with the concierges. They recommend several nice restaurants to us and always processed the requests in a timely and friendly fashion. (Try Bruschetta a nice little pizza place just around the corner from the hotel!) The only real negative comment I have about the hotel is that it felt very business like to us and didn't have the friendly personal service that we found at the Westin in Florence. The service as good but just not warm and fuzzy! As with all nice hotels in Italy, be prepared to pay high prices for everything!

"Fantastic."
Fantastic. Redeemed a lifetime’s collection of Starwood points for 2 rooms in this extremely grandand oppulent 100 year old hotel. I felt a little miffed that Platinum membership only yielded the expected room upgrade and complementary gift for 1 of the 2 rooms, however, as the regular room was more than spacious and absolutely immaculate the case was put to rest. Decor, fixtures and fittings, the large flat screen TV’s in both the suite and standard room were all of the highest standards and exceeded expectations. The double balconied living room of the 2nd floor 2 room suite could only be described as palatial. Front desk and concierge staff all spoke excellent English and proved to be exceedingly helpful. Nearest subway station, Spagna, adjacent to Spanish steps, is a 10 minute walk, but the adjacent taxi rank was always occupied, ready and waiting. We did not sample the hotel restaurant as there were many alternatives within a stones throw. Overall the hotel was superb.

"Wonderful! March 14-15,07"
We stayed at this hotel one night on SPG Awards. This has to be one of the best hotels I've stayed at. The staff was wonderful, the location was excellent and the hotel was gorgeous. The bathroom and the room were HUGE! Guest can use the spa for free and you must try the Turkish Sauna. If you have points and you are in Rome you MUST STAY HERE!!! A+++++

"Beautiful, but not inexpensive"
We stayed at this hotel for three nights using Starwood points. We would have never stayed there if not for the points. The room was beautiful, and the window opened onto the Via Vittorio Veneto. Great view of the area. We received a complimentary bottle of wine as part of the Starwood package. The staff was friendly and spoke English well. The concierge was helpful in arranging a taxi for a very early trip to the airport. Housekeeping staff is very good, and the room was spotless. The hotel has a very nice bar with evening entertainment. Like the hotel, it's not cheap. A martini was 15 euro, but the drink was a good size and well made. There are many nice restaurants in the area, and if you get off the main street, they are reasonably priced. The hotel is equidistant between two Metro stops, both just a short walk. This made access to the rest of Rome very easy,

"A very nice hotel on Via Veneto"
The hotel is very nice, although it is a pretty good walk from the main tourist attractions. Via Veneto is one of the pricier locations for dinner, but the restaurants are pretty cool. Many of the restaurants are located on the sidewalk in glass enclosed buildings that are beautiful at night. Our room was very nice, but nothing exceptional.

"Extra Special Excelsior!"
Just returned from four nights in this exquisite hotel. We were using Starwood points for the entire stay (which would have cost several thousand dollars otherwise) and checked in with a Starwood AmEx, so the front desk asked us to wait an hour so they could upgrade our room. It was well worth the wait--our room was huge, with two balonies overlooking the Via Veneto! The walls were covered in bright green padded embroidered silk, it was lit by two crystal chandeliers, and the ceiling and columns were carved and gilded. The bath was huge, with a double sink. Our friends' room was slightly smaller, but was decorated similarly (only in red silk!) and also had a balcony. The hotel has two bars, one inside that is tucked away and quiet and another with seating on the street, perfect for people-watching. The staff was extremely helpful and efficient. We loved it and can't wait to go back!

"Good experience"
This combines all the very best elements of both a top American hotel and a top Italian Hotel. The large lobby / bar area is luxuriously and elegantly furnished, yet very comfortable with friendly staff. Bar ,and breakfast / lunch restaurant excellent. Rooms are exquisitely furnished, spotlessly clean and quiet. Staff could not be more friendly or efficient. All in all a fantastic place to stay in Rome! Highly recommended.

"Great Hotel"
Very Very nice in every way. We had a wonderful room ,very big for a non-suite room, on the top floor with a great balcony overlooking the city. Staff was great, food was amazing, location was probably the only letdown. Its a bit of a ways away from the city center but still within walking distance of the spanish steps. Overall a wonderful experience.
