"Loved it..would go back"
The hotel was wonderful. There was always someone waiting to help you at any time of the day. They even held our bags for us as we traveled throughout the rest of spain and then came back and picked them up and our way back to Madrid. Overall the hotel was very luxurious and the breakfast buffet was top notch for european hotels

"Wonderful stay at the Westin Palace"
We enjoyed a wonderful four night stay at the Westin Palace in late July. Our bedroom on the fourth floor was very clean, well appointed, and had everything that we could possibly require.
The weather was very hot, and we found the air-conditioning in the room to be very effective. Only problem was the extremely high prices in the mini-bar (6 Euros for a small bottle of mineral water!!!). We went to the little shop, just over the road at the rear of the hotel and stocked up.
The Rotunda restaurant was absolutely lovely, we were not in a hurry to leave each morning and had some very leisurely breakfasts. The range of food available was very good, and the service very attentive each morning, even at busy times. I would also highly recommend the oriental restaurant within the hotel, we has a fabulous meal there on the final evening.
The hotel is very well placed, close the all the major sights, in particular the museums, and very close to the starting point for the open-top hop on/hop off bus, which we used a lot. We bought a two day pass, and went everywhere by bus, which we found very good value for money. It runs all evening as well, and we enjoyed a lovely cool ride around seeing the sights after dark.
Two other things that I would highly recommend are the Royal Palace, absolutely beautiful, and the Retiro, a lovely park with the most stunning crystal palace and boating lake within it, a great place to go on Sunday afternoon.
We really enjoyed Madrid. There are not as many major sights perhaps as a lot of other cities that we have visited, especially as it is the capital, however, it is a lovely city with a lot of very beautiful buildings and lovely plazas.
If we were ever to return, I am sure that we would stop at the Palace again.

"Great stay at the Palace!"
Just returned from a 3 night/4 day stay at the Westin Palace. Checked in at 1 am the first night and check-in was quick. Location is great and extremely central. Right across the street is the MuseoThyssen-Bornemisza. Also, a Starbucks is around the corner and a convience store/restaurant VIPS is close for snacks and magazines. We thought the location was perfect for walking to the Prado museum and Retiro Park. Lobby was nice but the hotel wasn't stuffy at all. The Rotunda restaurant is very pretty but it didn't seem worth the cost to eat there. Westin Workout was on the 7th floor accessibly through the staff elevator or the stairway on the 6th floor. Complementary earbuds were available for the TVs on the treadmills, stairmasters, and ellipticals. Westin Workout was open 24 hours a day. Rooms were on the smaller side since it is an old building in the middle of a city. Bathroom was large and Westin beds were very comfortable. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

"Better than Expected - nearly 5 star experience"
We loved this hotel, the service was excellent and not too stuffy.
We arrived at 9.30 after a very early flight from Luton to find that they had our room ready and waiting although the check in was not until 2.00pm.
We had booked and paid for the most basic room so were pleasantly suprised that we had been upgraded to a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the Neptune fountain. Room was very spacious even allowing for a roll away bed for our 10 year old son.
The public areas of the hotel are very elegant especially the Rotunda dome where the breakasts are served, the breakfasts are excellent- but very expensive ! approx 30 euros so I booked with travel republic for a rate that included breakfast.
As a special treat we booked a table in the Rotunda reataurant on the Saturday evening and were not disappointed. The setting is beautiful and very luxurious with very good food which is well presented. Whilst not cheap it is would put many a London hotel to shame for value for money.
All in all probably the best hotel we have stayed in, the only facility lacking being a swimming pool but with a hotel built in 1912 this would not be expected.

"Great 5 Star hotel"
This hotel was fantastic from start to finish. Making reservations was a snap, they guaranteed us connecting rooms with the kids, they met us with special kids' packs for our little ones, and had top notch service. The rooms were fantastic, truly beautiful, old world, but modern and well appointed. Great bathrooms and COMFy beds. We loved the gym and the Starwood Guest floor (where we stayed). The Atrium restaurant had fantastic service, though the first night the food was excellent and the second night was not very good. The location of this hotel can't be beat. You are literally across the street from the Thyssen, across the Paseo del Prado from the Prado, around the corner from the Reina Sofia and a few blocks from the Parque Retiro. We had no complaints whatsoever about the hotel -- this was a marvelous place to stay and we would not have wanted to stay anywhere else. Thank you Westin Palace, you are doing it right!

"First Class"
We stayed at the Ritz and were thoroughly disappointed. We then moved over to the Westin which is across the street. The location is central to all the major galleries. Everything was great and a better value. The rooms and the entire hotel have been renovated. The beds are oh so comfortable after you have been walking around Madrid all day. The bathrooms are huge. They have double sinks with marble countetrtops. The rooms are quiet. The buffet breakfeast was great also. Highly recommended.

"Great stay"
We stopped in Madrid for a couple of days prior to a crusie from Barcelona. The Westin Palace was an excellent place to relax from the trip and use a base for exploring Madrid.
The Hotel is first class in every way. Our room was on the 6th floor and faced the street. The windows were well insulated and no street noise was noted, even with a demonstration down the street at the Plaza Neptune for during the Parliamentary discussions over Catalonia. Flashing our Palace key to the police wisked us through the crowd. Pays to stay at a top notch locale.
Furnishings were classic and well done. The room was in excellent condition and the "Heavenly Bed" was just that. The bathroom was large and had every convinience.
Drinks and eats in the rotunda dining room was a real treat. The stained glass roof is beautiful and a sight to see.
Room service was prompt and excellent. We asked for some ice and within three minutes, a huge bucket and glasses appeared.
I highly recommend the Palace as first class place to stay in Madrid

"Fantastic"
Had a great stay here. Hotel is right in the middle of the museum district. Great location. Rooms are elegant. The heavenly bed is indescribably good after a hard day looking at paintings! Staff was polite and efficient. Only down side to the place, was that the hotel bar and restaraunts are very expensive, but that is to be expected at a five star hotel. (I ate elsewhere.) With priceline rate this was a fantastic deal, and I will be back if I can swing it.

"Beautiful Hotel, amazing beds!"
We stayed at the Palace for one night at the end of a 10 day trip to Spain in October of 2005. The Westin Palace sits directly across from the Prado Museum and the famous Ritz hotel. It's only a couple of blocks from the Retiro Park and the Reina Sofia and Theissen museums as well.
We arrived around noon and were able to walk there easily from the Atocha RENFE train station (about 3 long blocks).
We were allowed to check in right away, even though it was early. I'd asked for a room with a view and we certainly were not disappointed. Our room, on the 4th floor, looked out directly onto the roundabout on the Plaza Canovas and across to the Ritz. The room was enormous by European standards, with the Westin's signature "heavenly beds" and a fantastic bathroom. The room also had big, built in closets with a safe, tons of channels in English on the TV, and fantastic amenities in the bathroom.
I was able to get this hotel on Priceline for about half of the hotel's website rate and it was well worth it.
