In 1850 Figi started as a patisserie, founded by the Swiss patissier George Fygi. In 1909 the company moved to the centre of Zeist, Het Rond. As Figi evolved through the years, it grew out from a patisserie to a tea room and later on a restaurant.

The wealthy area around Zeist wished for a Concert and Theatre hall to provide in their entertainment needs and in 1925 Figi opened its concert hall. Many international theatre plays and concerts were hosted in Figi and among the visitors Prince Hendrik and Queen Emma.

In the nineties plans arose to build a new Figi, based on years of experience in hospitality, combined with a profound market knowledge. The Dutch designers couple Ravagewas contacted and they were given the task to translate the Figi identity into a hotel, congres centre, theatre, cinema, restaurant espresso bar and theatre café: all together a pleasant place to stay.

The Figi building was opened in 1994 after two years of planning, designing and construction.

LOCATION

Figi is located in the (affluent) centre of the Netherlands, within an hour’s drive from Amsterdam or Schiphol Airport. The woods of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug are an attraction for leisure guests mainly during the weekend, to explore nature during their stay at Figi. The inspiring and cultural precinct surrounds are ideal for a walk and they are a pleasant part of a visit to Figi.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

* Dining
The interior of the Figi Restaurant is based on a Parisian brasserie and it can host up to a hundred people. In the restaurant as well as in the hotel rooms, Figi has chosen to display contemporary black and white pictures by the artist Nico Jesse.

* The Theatre café has a very down to earth, informal setting. Guests are welcome throughout the day and evening for a drink, lunch or dinner and of course to come together after a theatre play or movie for a nice continuation of the evening.

* Meetings
The seven meeting- and banquet rooms can be combined for larger groups and they are suitable for up to several hundred people. Five other board rooms are suitable for smaller groups, because smaller board meetings take place on a regular basis as well.

ROOM AMENITIES

* Figi has 97 hotel rooms, both standard rooms and executive rooms, as well as three suites. The cherry wood furniture has been designed and produced exclusively for Figi. All rooms live up to international quality standards and provide all necessary facilities.
