"Very nice traditional hotel"
We stayed with my elderly parents for a 3 night midweek break in May. The hotel was very quiet which suited us. It takes a 5minute taxi ride to get there and what a location! Right on the sea front overlooking the lovely beach. Checked in very easily and the one thing you notice straight away is how friendly and helpful the staff all are. We had booked 2 Palace Rooms - whilst slightly old fashioned they were very clean and had been decorated recently and very comfortable. We like that feel of an older hotel but if you are expecting modern chrome and glass go elsewhere. The balcony was the crowning glory. A huge decked area with glass panels giving privacy from the room next door and a pair of traditional deck chairs to sit out on. The view was fantastic! Breakfast was in the main restaurant and included hot food which in Eurpoe we hadn't expected. The views again were fab - right out onto the sea front. We had snacks in the bistro a couple of times and they were very good and quite reasonable for a hotel. Only small points to think about if you go there - firstly take your own hairdryer - the one in the bathroom is a bit lacking in power especially if you have long hair! Secondly we thought there would be tea and coffee making facilities in the room but there aren't - there is a mini bar and they have left room for you to put a few of your own things in there but if you need that cuppa first thing bring a travel kettle. Apart from that we couldn't fault the hotel and would stay there again without question.

"Excellent Old Fashioned Charm"
I regularly travel to the Belgium Coast and this time tried the Thermae Palace as I was taking my parents (a little older) away for the weekend as a treat. I have tried many hotels and I must say all have been comfortable, however I've always been disappointed in one area for each of the hotels until now. The rooms I found were excellent with bathrooms as large as the bedrooms and were spotlessly clean, whilst older they were rather grand. Each room having a hallway leading to the bedroom and bathroom with wonderful old large doors. I had asked for rooms near each other and as agreed they were indeed next to each other with a fabulous little balcony and amazing views (how often when checking into a hotel can the small point of even being on the same floor be overlooked) Breakfast had a wonderful choice for all and even included bacon, eggs, sausages and beans with good pots of strong English Tea. All staff were efficient and tidied away without intruding. The building reminds you of times gone by and yes there are area's where the years are showing on this wonderful building, however it is a pleasure to stay in such a well run establishment where old time values still remain. If you want a brief overnight stop then this may not be the place to stay, however if you want to truly relax and enjoy all that Ostend has to offer including a stunning coastline from your balcony I would say this is your 1st choice. Now I have tried this hotel, I will return many times and have already booked another trip for December. I look forward to many more enjoyable times here and It is a pleasure to find a hotel that retains it's originality rather than following the Chrome Makeover Briggade. A truly happy customer!

"Stylish and Welcoming, The Thermae is the one to choose in Ostend"
The Thermae Palace remains the grandest of hotels in the Ostend area. Firstly, getting there is very straightforward. It's located on the seafront with free car park and served by a tram stop (the hotel is just 2 stops down from Ostend International Train Station) and a bus stop almost outside. The rooms were spotless with crisp sheets and soft beds & multi country TV channels. The front facing rooms have substantial french windows opening out to display the huge sandy beach which runs for miles down the Belgian coast. Nice touches in the room included 6ft towel rails in the bathroom, marble top sinks and a very capable shower unit. The hotel itself could do with a lick of paint although in fairness, any hotel almost on the beach will need regular decorating. The staff were discreet and friendly, breakfast was a wide choice when compaired to some of the other hotels in the area. It's really worth paying a little extra to stay here as the standard is so clearly higher, free parking a bonus (it's 14 eur per day in Ostend car parks at present per vehicle) and the quiet, uninterrupted views over the sea make it all quite special.
