Thon Hotel
If you get one of the rooms with aircon that works efficiently, good TV reception and cabled broadband you have done well. If not then it is worth asking to change the room.
The lost property section is pretty touch and go. Despite reporting leaving my washbag in the room on the day of departure, I received an e-mail a mointh later to say that the Hotel could not locate it - pretty untrustworthy cleaning staff I fear.
Other than that, a good breakfast and fairly decent location, although there are many other good hotels much closer to the centre. |

A Warm relaxing Central Shopping hotel
Very nice hotel, true multilingual staff, clean spacious room, nice room view, excellent buffet with international variety, lovely sauna, coyuple of minutes walking to rue neuve (shopping) and adolph max (...), Nord station (Train), Rogier (tram and bus)
Best way to reach from air port is to take the train for top to nord station (costs Euro 2.8 Only)
from the Nord station follow signs to Place rogie (< 5 minutes walk)
Highly Recommended

Tricky lifts and be ready to queue !
My advise to anybody planning to stay there is 'be fit' or don't go ! There seemed to be sufficient lifts for this huge hotel (25 floors I think, and 7 lifts) but you still might have to wait quite a long time in rush hour (morning time for breakfast or as you are on your way to check out). I waited a long time for my lift to finally show up and then it stopped on almost every second floor, it took us 10 mn to go down! Next time I'll ask for a room lower down, at least I will be able to take the stairs. I felt very bad for a group of people in wheel chairs who had to wait so long to get a empty lift to get in, I saw one person had to go down the stairs with his walking stick, fed up of waiting so long, because he couldn't get his chair in any lift, he was shaking with rage and I could understand how frustrated he must have felt. The staff were clearly under pressure, trying to proceed with check outs but also helping out with the less mobile customers, and the staff ended up arguing amongst each other at the desk, not a pretty sight. If a hotel of that standing welcomes customers with wheelchairs it must do all it can to make sure they are treated equally, obviously they were understaffed that day.
Otherwise the hotel was comfortable with a great breakfast buffet (shame about the second coffee machine that broke down : there was a queue AGAIN!), it must have been my unlucky day, or a particularly busy day at the hotel. |

Pleasantly surprised
I was alittle worried about the hotel since I received such a great pricce thru GTA. The hotel was very nice. The rooms were clean and well kept. The breakfast was very good. It is only a 10 minute walk to the Grand Place. I would stay there again anytime. |
