"Excellent choice in Oslo"
Great lobby, helpful smiling staff. convenient to and from the airport and to the main street of town, the Karl Johann's Gate. Rooms well equipped, smallish bathroom, good quality and aesthetic wood furnishings, breakfast free and copious though not particularly gourmet. excellent value!

"Great Hotel in Central Oslo"
The Opera is a great hotel right next to the Central train station. The hotel is a fairly modern, high rise. There would have been great views over the fjord, from the restaurant floor (3rd) but they are currently building what looks to be a multi-storey car park between the hotel and the water. The rooms are modern, clean and tidy. The bathroom was clean and in the fully tiled wet-room style. There wasn't a bath but the shower was good. We only stayed for 1 night and it was mid-week but we didn't have any problems with noise, although we had a room facing into the middle of the building rather than to the street. It was hot in Oslo so we had the bedroom window open and you could just about hear the loudspeaker announcements in the train station, but nowhere near loud enough to keep us awake. The breakfast was excellent with a huge selection of hot and cold dishes. From bacon and eggs to cold meats and cheese, breads, yoghurts, fruits, teas, coffee and fruit juice and many other items. The thing that impressed me most, however, was how friendly the Norwegian hotel staff were. They all spoke excellent English (as my Norwegian is rubbish) and they were all genuinely eager to help. Trips – I recommend getting the regular ferry from Pier 3 across to the Viking Ship and Folk museums. Both very good, in their own ways.

Quite simply one of the best hotels in Oslo. Modern and comfortable, excellent breakfast, nice staff, good location for reaching public transport.
