"Best ever New Year Break"
We've just returned from this hotel, having had the most enjoyable New Year's Eve break in over ten years. Because we booked quite late we could only have a Superior room for one night and a very tiny Standard room the second. The standard room was in fact smaller than the superior room's bathroom! If room quality matters to you be sure to request a Superior one - or one of the rooms themed around a traditional British Pudding such as the 'Sticky Toffee and Date' room.
Whatever your room you can be sure of excellent facilities downstairs. There is a comfortable bar with an open log fire, and a large lounge with a wide selection of board games. It would be better if this were a non-smoking area but at least part of the bar is. The restaurant offers very high quality food and managed to serve up a perfect meal even when mass-catering on New Year's Eve. Breakfast is too good to miss so don't lie in too late!

"Friendly Hotel"
Following Paddy Burt's favourable review in the Daily Telegraph we booked ourselves in for a weekend plus a Pudding Club meeting. One of our best weekends ever, the room was great and the fireside lounge and also the bar were cosy and welcoming. The manager and staff are all very friendly and helpful and the owners themselves take time to talk to you and ask for your opinions. The food was excellent like its restaurant setting.
The Pudding Club meeting on the Friday is a really enjoyable experience and good to see that traditional English cuisine is still practiced somewhere.
All in all a lovely place to stay in a great location, for walking and visiting the nearby attractions.
