"Towers Rotana Hotel"
Just returned (1/6/05) from a week in Dubai.
We (2 couples) stayed at the Towers Rotana Hotel which is located in the city in close proximity to the World Trade Centre and some of the grander hotels such as the Dusit, Shangri-La, Emirates Tower and the Crowne Plaza.
Our transfer from the airport was very smooth and took less than 10 minutes.
First impressions of the hotel was good, it is well decorated and very clean and the staff was immediately very helpful. We got to the hotel at about 0830, they did not have a room ready for us but advised that as half- boarders we could breakfast in the Gardinia restaurant whilst they made ready our rooms.
The rooms were ready at about 1100. The rooms were quite large, very clean and had a good size bathroom with a good quality shower. We found out during our stay at the hotel that a lot of effort is expended on keeping the rooms in prestige condition with a major clean in the morning - followed by a general refresh in the early evening, this included restocking of coffee, tea and toiletries.
The location of the hotel is excellent, with the Jumeriah beach just 10 minutes away by taxi - cost about 15drs, the major shopping malls are all within 30 minutes taxi ride, with Diera City Centre about 12-15 minutes, Burjuman 12-15 minutes (about 20drs) the not to be missed IBN Battutta is the furthest at about 25-28mins (cost about 45drs), Madinah Jumeriah is about 15-18 minutes (cost about 25-30drs).
The abra station at Diera is about 15 minutes away, from there you can get a boat across the creek to the Gold and Spice souks, there are also some fantastic deals on handbag and perfumery for the women.
The food in the hotel was absolutely first class, there are at least 3 restaurants in the hotel but we used only the Gardina for our breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was a mixture of European and local, dinners were themed and included a Country and Western night, an Italian night and an English night - the English night included fish and chips, however garlic in the fish was a bit of a no-no.
There is a well equipped gym on the 6th floor, which is open from 0700 to 2200hrs. The manager and staff were friendly and helpful. The panoramic view from the gym is fantastic.
The swimming pool is also located on the 6th floor, the pool is small, but includes a jaccuzi at one end.
Dubai is a truly wonderful place and the hotel just added to a graet experience.
One small point to note is that the hotel is located on the busy Sheikh Zayed Rd, there are no pedestrian crossing on that stretch of the road and the only way to get across is by taxi - this is not an issue as the fare is only 4drs (about 70p)

"Superb hotel"
I have just returned from a one week visit to Dubai staying at The Towers Rotana Hotel on the Sheikh Zayed Road.
I thought the location was ideal as it is central to everything you would want to do in this astonishing city! The hotel runs a minibus to Deira City Centre four times daily and also to to Jumeirah beach. Every member of staff at the hotel made me feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble to them. My room was immaculate with great housekeeping throughout my stay replenishing free bottled water and fresh fruit twice daily.
The food was excellent at the buffet breakfast, you certainly will not go hungry! I did not eat at Teatro's, the hotel's award winning restaurant but the food at Long's bar was great and very reasonable.
I will without a doubt return to this hotel because of the service you can expect from the friendly and polite staff.
Fantastic value!
