"Our favorite NY hotel!"
Our family of four, including two teen-age girls, spent three nights at the Travel Inn. It was everything mentioned in the previous reviews --- and then some. The room was spacious by NYC standards and immaculately clean. Check-in was a breeze, and any questions/requests (extra towels and pillows) were answered positively and quickly. We asked for directions several times, and the day staff, in particular, were extremely helpful. The location was ideal with numerous reasonably-priced diners, delis, and restaurants located right on the block. I would recommend that a family's first outing from the Travel Inn be a walk around the block to scout out the various establishments. As my husband says, "If the cops eat there, it will be good," and we found this to be true. This hotel gives visitors the feeling of being in a New York City neighborhood as opposed to on a strip of hotels. Our favorite stop at the end of our long days of touring the city was at the Food Emporium. This little grocery store, located just up the block on the way back to the hotel from Times Square, features an excellent bakery, salad bar, and buffet. Our night-time snacks and the next day's breakfast were purchased there, saving time and money. The hotel room refrigerator was just the right size for milk, juice, bottled water, and fresh fruit. We even put ice cream snacks in the freezer, and they kept just fine. We did not have time to use the pool, but it was beautiful and clean, located on the third floor and surrounded by a patio with numerous cafe tables across from a lovely little terrace garden. We noticed many other guests relaxing there, enjoying a break from the city. It was certainly inviting, and I'm sure we would have enjoyed it if we had time to use it. The only complaint registered by anyone in our family was the lack of YES Network --- the official channel of the New York Yankees, for those who might not know --- on the hotel television. My husband was appalled that any hotel in NYC would not carry this channel. The rest of us, frankly, were happy for a break from this channel which dominates our television at home. So, would we recommend this hotel? Absolutely! Would we stay there again? We're already trying to figure out when we can go back!

"Loved my experience at Travel Inn"
I had a whirlwind trip to NYC for an interview. I arrived Monday afternoon at the Travel Inn and was greeted by 2 kind gentlemen. They checked me in very quickly (about 1 minute), informed me of what was nearby, and talked with me about my interview and how to get there in the best time. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, I did request a Quiet Room. Those rooms are located around the pool. It was very, very quiet. The elevator worked fine. My room was very clean. The beds are definitely firm.....and I slept like a baby (a happy, content baby). I was given a prompt wake-up call the next morning. I had to check out soon after my interview....and the check out was also very fast (about 2 minutes). The young lady in the gift shop was helpful when I needed to arrange a shuttle back to the airport. Monday night, I ordered room service (from a place a couple blocks away....Theater Diner). I had a delicious dinner within 25 minutes! On Tuesday, after my interview, I ate right next door to the hotel at the Broadway Cafe. The man there was extremely prompt and attentive. Very good french toast. I felt very, very safe there. It's like any other NYC street....busy and bustling. I really don't understand why people have said they didn't feel safe....I can only assume that they are unfamiliar with big cities. It was also very easy to hail a taxi on the morning of my interview....just walk out of the hotel, turn to your left and walk to that street corner....I had a taxi in about 45 seconds. So, stay at the Travel Inn! Enjoy! You're close to so much!
