"Great for the Price"
Location wise it is not too far from the airport, so you do occasionally get some aircraft noise. This also leaves it about a 25 minute walk into the centre of town, although it is a pleasant stroll it is very quiet so I advise a taxi at night (which wasn't too expensive).
Really friendly staff made the check in process easy, although if arriving out of hours the reception is closed and there is a sign for a number to call, so just be aware of this.
The pools are clean and great to cool off in.
Breakfast is served by one of the friendliest guys I have ever met, although he did go on about having no tomatoes for his fried breakfast (he was a lot more bothered than I was).
All in all a great place to stay, although it has no restuarant you do get vouchers for the restuarant in it's sister hotel (Cairns Queenslander) just a short walk away. The food here was fantastic.
The only gripes were that although the AC was extremely efficient it needed your room key to activate so it was off when you were out, it was also a little loud. The view from the balcony more than made up for this.
I recommend this hotel as a budget base to see the the Cairns area and would have no hesitation to return.

"Good location for airport"
Stayed here for 1 night in Nov 06, was a bit out of the centre of cairns, and has a landing flight path over it, but not too noisy.
Room was big, but bath was tiny, (about 3 foot!!!) I did sit in it for comedy value though.
Nearby Balinese restaurant was very nice, about 5 mins walk towards Cairns centre. Also hotel is only 100 yards from the esplanade, for a nice walk into the town centre, (looks better when the tide is in)
Staff were OK, and the do have internet access, and 2 pools.
Breakfast was reasonably priced, and filling.
