"Comfortable two weeks"
We stayed for two weeks, first in a large comfortable front room with couch, coffee table, desk, reading lights, side chairs, breakfast table and deafening street noise from demolition across the street. They switched us to peaceful, somewhat smaller, back room without couch & coffee table but magpies nesting in garden. A great service staff fixed minor problems quickly and room service breakfast in ten minutes. There's also an enormous buffet downstairs.
Great location for Metro. A nice little English book store around the corner but greatest find was our nightly 6 pm restaurant just one block away from hotel, next to the Opera. It is called La Traviata. The food was lovely , best grilled salmon I ever ate - rare steak and LARGE green salads ! Meant we needn't wait for restaurants to open at 8:30.

"Good value hotel in central position"
A well located hotel in a quiet street in central Madrid nr the Opera. Stayed in December 05 and received room upgrade to junior suite. Cost approx £170 for 2 nights for 2 people. Nicely appointed rooms with good standard of decoration and good maid service.
Good plentiful breakfasts in large dining room. Didn't take any evening meals as preferred to eat out in Madrids choice of many reasonably priced bars.
Helpful reception staff who ironed out a problem when local taxi firm (Aerocity) fouled up on return journey to airport.
Small but comfortable lounge used to take very generous nightcaps.
Car parking is available in a small multi-storey directly opposite the hotel.

"A Bargain"
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights from August 10th in a twin room. I only paid $56 a night - what a bargain. The Hotel is well located - a short walk from the Gran Via, Royal Palace, Puerta Del Sol, Plaza Mayor, etc. I would say that the Hotel used to be very grand indeed - its now a little frayed at the edges. Huge room, wooden floor and nice shutters to keep the morning sun at bay. Very efficient and freindly front desk staff. Be prepared for the orange bathroom suite - not to everone's taste ;-). All in all if you get a great deal at this Hotel gor for it!!

"Good value, good location"
We were very pleased with this hotel. It's location was great--close to the Royal Palace, but also an easy walk to the Plaza Mayor and the lovely Plaza Santa Ana with it's great tapas cafes. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our room was fairly large, especially by European standards. We had requested a quiet, non-smoking room and we got it. Our room was in what appeared to be a kind of annex, accessed by a separate elevator from the rest of the hotel. Perhaps this is a non-smoking wing. If so, it works well. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, since the area is full of places, like the Cafe Opera just down the hill, where you can get a good, inexpensive breakfast. We didn't have a car, but noticed a large garage just down the street.

"Very nice hotel"
Very good location near Opera and Sol subway stations (3 min by foot).
Very convenient to explore old Madrid and major tourists attractions.
Located near Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real and Almaduna Cathedral (3 min by foot).
Room was big and very well furnished.
Good Service
Nice breakfast for the price (7€/pp)
Excellent value for money (72€ in august on the sol-melia site).
A real 4* for me (especially in Spain...)
Definitely worth it.
