J C from Surrey, London
We used this site to book a weekend break and chose Tryp Cibeles after we read the reviews. We were not disappointed. The hotel entrance was just off the main road Gran Via, about 150 meters away from the Gran Via metro station. To get there from the airport was so straight forward and cheap, just 2 euros from the airport. There was a guard in the ground floor entrance, stopping non hotel users to enter (a good idea, considering the hotel was too close to the main road). The reception was on the 1st floor, check in was quick and information regarding breakfast and facilities were given to us instantly. We asked for a quiet room and the gentleman at the desk was more than willing to offer as he admitted it would be noisy in the weekend outside. Breakfast was good, buffet style with a lot of choices from cold meat to hot English fried ups. Services were good in general but most of the staff could not speak English so it was a nightmare to communicate with them sometimes. Check out was efficient and quick. We would like to come back again. |

"A Great Stay"
Excellent value for money: friendly staff, great location (just off the Grand Via & half a block from the metro), and huge room. Would definitely return!

"Good location, everything ok"
Just got back from our 2 nights stay at Tryp Cibeles last night. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we enjoyed our short break in Madrid. The good points first: 1. The hotel is less than 1 min walk from Callao Metro station and basically you could walk to all attractions from this base. 2. The rooms are spacious, clean and beds are comfortable. 3. Breakfast buffet is good with a mix of hot and cold choices. Now the not so good points: 1. One of the rooms we were allocated was along the Gran Via which gave us great photos opportunities, but for the guy who stayed in the room it was not so great. He was kept awake by the sirens and noisy street crowds into the early hours and he had to buy ear plugs for the 2nd night stay. We had 2 rooms around the side of the building one of which I stayed in and being a light sleeper I had no trouble staying asleep at all! So that's something to bear in mind when booking a room. 2. Check-in was extremely slow and almost painful worsen by the fact that the website we booked our rooms with had given the wrong guest name to the hotel for one of the rooms. I think in total check-in took almost 30 mins! 3. They tried to charge us for breakfast even though the guy at check-in had confirmed we had breakfast included for the 1st morning. We refused to pay and told the breakfast guy to check with the receptionist. 2nd morning we ate at Vips down the road and that was a perfectly decent breakfast without all the hassle. Would I return to this hotel? Yes, I would for its great location and good rooms.

"Decent Hotel"
I thought this Hotel was above average.
The rooms were clean, the location good.
The buffet breakfast was varied and the Hotel staff were good.
The taxi I had booked the night before through reception was there the next morning on time.
The Gran Via is noisy but the windows seemed to keep the majority of noise out.
Overall I would stay again.

"Great value for money"
We have just spent three nights over Christmas at the Tryp Cibeles. We really enjoyed our stay there. The staff were excellent, they gave us a fantastic room looking out onto the Gran Via even though we only booked a standard room. The room was spacious and clean. Whilst for a four star hotel, the furnishings and finishings were probably not as luxurious as other four star hotels we have stayed in but other factors push up the desirability of this hotel. It is excellent value for money - we paid £62 per night including breakfast.
The location is great, right in the centre of Madrid and within walking distance of many sights. The metro is very easy to use - and cheap! Train from the airport cost us 1 euro each. Unfortunately the only downfall of our room was that there was constant noise from traffic, sirens and horns which did not let up all night long. The beds were firm but we found them comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was fab. Breakfast was good, fair amount of choice and also available from 7am-11am.
When paying by credit card on check out it gives you the option to pay in sterling or euros, this is an option given by the credit card company. The exchange rate was excellent so we chose to pay in sterling. We were given this option in many retail outlets in Spain when paying by paying by credit card. We would definitely stay here again.

"Just a great place to stay"
I stayed here for four nights at the end of September and I have to say it was a pleasure. Got a lovely room on the seventh floor at the back of the hotel which was very quiet and had panoramic views of the city skyline. Nice sized bathroom too with a great power shower.
The staff were extremely courteous and friendly. The breakfast was lovely every morning. The hotel's location is absolutely brilliant - you are so central for everything. I would advise anyone visiting Madrid to stay here.

"Great hotel"
We stayed in hotel at end of September for 5 nights and could not fault it on any level. The room was lovely and spacious, with excellent bathroom and large comfortable beds. We were on the 2nd floor of hotel at the front, which is actually 5 floors up as hotel over a huge Zara shop! There was a lovelt balcony overlooking the Gran Via which was brilliant and although noisy at times with the doors open, it was completely sound-proof once you close them. Breakfast was gorgeous - huge buffet with lots of choice. Location was perfect - we didn't need public transport once - everywhere was lovely walk away and area seemed very safe. I will definitely stay again.
