"Best deal for an airport hotel"
I really don't understand the negative reviews. The Tryp Diana is the nearest hotel to the airport. It is located in a residental neighborhood with a handful of shops and bars and restaurants within walking distance. Inside the hotel it self, I noted 8 eateries, bars and one night club. The bar across from the newstand was inexpensive and the quality of product as good as any upscale taverna in Madrid. Both of my stays within a 3 week period were very enjoyable. Both of my rooms were clean and comfortable. Not to mention the bathrooms in both of my rooms were the newest most modern I've seen in Europe. Overall experince was better then most and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

"A nice short stay"
We stayed for one night, and had no complaint. The staff was friendly, the shuttle from airport came promptly. The next morning we had to be at the airport at a peak time, and the hotel arranged additional buses to take the guests to the terminals. The room and the bathroom were clean and pleasant. The Hotel is in a residential quarter, there are no restaurants or other facilities in the neighbourhood, but in the hotel itself there are bars, restaurants, etc. Recommended for a short stay.

"Excellent choice close to the airport"
May29-30, 2004. After 33 hours of non-stop travel, we asked the hotel booking service at the Madrid airport to book us an economical room with a great bathroom and a restaurant in the hotel. The Tryp Diana totally fit the bill. The hotel rooms are geared towards businessmen, but are a good size and the bathrooms are resplended in marble, with a HUGE shower and bathtub with fantastic water pressure and limitless hot water. The beds were comfortable and the rooms spotless. The staff was lovely, and the hotel had several restaurants open late. We opted for the tapas bar, "El Cabaillo," which was very authentic and reasonably priced. There were more locals than guests in it. 80 Euros included breakfast buffet for two and all the taxes, plus round-trip transportation to and from the airport. The only downside of the hotel is that the common-areas are showing their age, although signs noted that the hotel was being updated.
