"highly recommended"
Tryp Menfis Hotel location is excellent, 2 min from Plaza Espana metro station and within walking distance of all the main areas. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have seen, great selection, all the usual offering including wonderful pastries. If you're staying in Madrid for a long weekend or on buisness, the Mefis is an excellent choice, highly recommended.

"Good Deal"
Hotel in a good position to explore Madrid. Metro station within yards of the entrance. Although a 4 star hotel, not much to offer other than the room, which was large and clean but ideal for what we were looking for. A place to come back to after a good days walking around the streets of Madrid. Plenty of Bar's and Cafe's on the Gran Via to sample the local food and drink, VIPS an ideal place to get breakfast, one just across the road.

"Excellent hotel !!"
My husband and I stayed in January for a weekend in this hotel. It is on the Gran Via, 5 minutes walk from the metro station Plaza Espana. We had a twin room with balcony overlooking Gran Via. Room and bathroom were spacious and very clean. Breakfast is oke. Very nice staff at the reception. Good service. We really loved this hotel, and will definitely stay here again.

"Muy bueno!"
Stayed at the Mefis for one Friday night and was very happy with the hotel. As Expedia did not offer breakfast included, I booked direct with the hotel website which offered breakfast at no extra cost! The room I was allocated was on the 6th floor, very large, clean, modern and had a wonderful large balcony overlooking the Gran Via. Despite being on the Gran Via there was no problem with noise. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have seen, great selection, all the usual offering including wonderful pastries. "Repeating at Tryp Menfis"
We stayed at this hotel for one night in mid june and we had a very pleasant experience. We hadn’t booked in advance, but there was no problem. We checked availability and rates of this hotel by internet (because we had been there about one year and a half ago and we had had a very good stay there) and then we went directly to the hotel. Once we arrived, the man at the reception told us that the price was higher at reception than in internet, but he was very kind and he also informed us that if we wanted the internet rate, we could do the booking by phone at the moment and then do the checking immediately afterwards with the discount price. As he said, we phoned from the reception with our mobile phone and it worked out perfectly. We stayed in nice, new and big new room on the second floor (the whole hotel was being renewed by the first time we had stayed there). I loved the decoration, simple but modern. It makes you feel very comfortable. Our room windows were facing Gran Via which is a noisy street but the truth is that from the room, with the windows closed (room well tempered, air conditioning, heating…), we did not realise of the traffic noise at night. Location: Great. The hotel is just few steps from Plaza España and from a couple of metro lines. 15 minutes walking from Plaza del Sol and Plaza Mayor. There are plenty of places to have lunch or dinner near the hotel as well as the main shopping area. There are lots of theatres in Gran Via if you want to enjoy a good play, too. I’ve been to this hotel twice, I would repeat without hesitating

"Great location, very helpful staff"
I stayed there for 3 nights over the weekend. The Hotel is just 1 minute walk from Plaza Espana Metro station. Great location, in the Gran Via (full of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops and theaters). Very kind and helpful staff (reception and rooms) . Very clean rooms, very very comfortable beds and pillows. Buffet breakfast very nice with a good variety. I would stay there again !

"Good place to stay"
We stayed twice at the Tryp Menfis on our Easter trip to Spain and enjoyed the hotel very much. Modern and pleasant rooms, definitely 4 stars. Breakfast buffet was excellent, really a treat. Staff was friendly, excellent location. We rented a car. Finding the hotel was more or less easy, except that the first time we drove past the hotel, as it was still covered with scaffoldings, so we could not see it... but the harder task was to park the car to unload and check into the hotel. Absolutely impossible to stop anywhere near the hotel... you can only park the car in one of the public underground car parks and carry your luggage from there (not far though, 5 or 10 min.). And of course we were NOT at the right parking... the hotel had an agreement with another one where they offered us 20 % discount as hotel guests. So we had to re-park the car after we ckecked in.

"The scaffolding hotel"
It still has scaffolding in front of the hotel but we heard so much about it that we found the hotel immediately knowing that particularity. Excellent breakfast, good quality food, good selection and nice dining room. Our room was quiet, comfortable, clean with good AC. The only aspect we were disappointed with the hotel was the lack of help we had from the staff in helping us contacting Iberia about our lost luggages. For us it is much more difficult since we do not speak spanish very well. Beside that an excellent choice, hotel very well located, in the heart of everything, theatre, restaurants and shopping.

"Very nice stay, and a great room"
The hotel itself is in the theatre/cinema part of Madrid. We stayed 4 nights over the weekend and at the beginning of the week in what the hotel calls a premium room for €125/night plus tax. See the photos..., it really was a big nice room on the 8th floor at the back of the building away from the traffic and the scaffolding (which I am beginning to believe is a permanent fixture). It's clean, modern and with most of the things that you might need... free wired internet, small desk, lovely bathroom (with a real live green growing plant in it!) and so on. Oh BTW if you want to use the internet in 8808 on the bed, then bring a 15ft wire! (make that 20’) Try not to have a car in town. It’s a pain to park and you have to subject yourself to maniacal Madrid driving (we only saw one crash in 5 days which surprised me immensely). We were big users of the metro to get about, but I can recommend the MadridVision tourist bus as a way to get your bearings (stop is only 2 minutes walk away on the Calle de la Princessa, although the recorded commentary sockets have only a 50% chance of working). This is the usual hop on/off thing but don't bother with this, just sit tight so you get to know where things are and swap from one route to the other. Then buy the 10-journey bus/metro ticket. A bar and breakfast room exist (I've not seen the bar) and the breakfasts are typical buffet-style but with the welcome addition of ample quantities of both hot and cold food. For dinner there are lots of local places for routine meals. Spanish chains like VIPS and Fresc are reasonable and convenient and popular with local people. VIPS is just across the road and there is a larger one just up the Gran Via. Plaza Callao is about 5 minutes walk up the Gran Via and there you can go into the El Corte Ingles basement supermarket for all kinds of food if you like. However, a word of warning about El Corte Ingles. They have adopted the scurrilous practice of converting your credit card purchases into your native currency WITHOUT telling you. You don’t lose big time, but you do lose. I should be more careful when I sign!
