"Tryp Rex Hotel is an excellent hotel "
Tryp Rex Hotel is an excellent hotel located on the main street. Everything was near and easy to find. Room was beautifully decorated in green colours with spacious and clean bathroom. Only negative thing that I could think of would be a very small elevators. Breakfast was rich and various. This hotel was a very nice suprise that made our stay in Madrid more enjoyable.

"Tryp Rex Hotel is right at the heart of Gran Via "
Tryp Rex Hotel is right at the heart of Gran Via in the center of Madrid with easy access to public tranportation. The hotel it self is overall good. The only complain is they should build a better elevator system that can accomodate more than 3-4 people at a time, which often times causing queue lines of people who wanted to return to their rooms. Would consider returning if the price is reasonable. |

"Pleasant surprise - Tryp Rex"
We waited for the very last minute to book a hotel room in Madrid since we weren't sure of our dates.
Two weeks prior to the trip, I got an e mail with the Solemia web specials. The Tryp Hotel group is part of that company. They were offering 30 Euro a night room (USD$36) for 2 people in mid-October. I booked 3 nights since the hotel was on Gran Via. The Gran Villa is like a Times Square area. Very busy. Central location. It's a 5 minute walk to Puerta de Sol. That's a main tourist point. The museums are a 15 minute walk.
I wasn't expecting very much for the price. You can imagine my surprise when I opened the door to the room and was greeted with a 4* room.
Room 408 faced the side street. The room size was 12 x 15.
Two double beds pushed together. All tile floor.
Bathroom was all marble and spacious. Good towels. This could have been a Hilton or Sheraton if there was carpeting.
The bathroom had all the ammeneties a major hotel chain would offer. Water pressure in the shower was outstanding. At this price breakfast buffet was not included. Otherwise the cost is 9 euros a person.
You can eat locally for 2 to 3 euros or more.
Internet access at the lobby computer for 2 Euros for 30 minutes. Plenty of internet access locally between 1 and 3 Euro an hour.
Elevators are typically European. Small.
Only negative...main entrance to the hotel requires walking down steps to reach the lobby.
The hotel is less than a block from the Metro station.
A Starbucks is a block away.
I'd go back in a minute.
