"lovely turim"
wife and i stopped at the turim, and found the breakfast, room, and the staff all excellent. if we had a minor gripe the maid did not replace the coffee we used in the room . if you turn left on leaving hotel, on the second street you come to there is a metro station (parque)on the left. from here you can buy a daily ticket from the machine. shopping. go to colegio militar / luz .this is the benfica football stadium stop and also for a large shopping mall. go to oriente.this is the expo parque das nacoes.this again is a large shopping mall but with many other attractions which is must, but impossible to see all in a day . castelo de sa jorge, this is the castle on the hill ,get off the metro at restauradores or rossio and catch the bus 37 from rossio square(same daily ticket) direct to castle. restaurants. their are to many to mention, just look around baixa area(metro stop restauradores or rossio),or go to baixa chiado metro stop which is the biarro alto area, this is a maze of small quaint streets full of fado music and good food.(best food we found was stravaganza) if you go to the cais do sodre by metro you can catch a train to cascais(30 min) this is a nice harbour type resort ,personally i would forget estoril, we found little other than a casino.you can also visit belem, again a very nice place. christmas lights going up all over town we wish we were staying for that.

"Excellent"
Stayed here for 4 nights in early March. Very satisfied. Large room, TV (no English speaking channels though, so we watched Eurosport in German, and the odd movie shown in English on local channel). Lock for the safe was 2 euros 50 a day to hire which we thought should have been free in a hotel of this class. Extra also was the kitchenette cupboard - you pay to get a key that opens up a cupboard - not sure what is in it - guessing a microwave and cutlery etc. Fresh towels every day, fresh linen if you requested it. Breakfast was included (7.30am to 10.30am) - fruit juices (diluting!), yoghurt, cereal, bread rolls, meat, cheese, scrambled egg, bacon, small hotdog type sausages (very salty), small pastries, boiled eggs, coffee, hot chocolate. Very satisfying, as much as you wanted. We had a drink in the hotel bar one night - happy hour was advertised as 2 for 1 on all drinks between 6pm and 8pm - but we were charged full price for our cocktails (5 euros each). There is a restaurant in the hotel but we didn't use it. We thought the hotel was in a great location. Very quiet, no noise of any note from the street we were overlooking. Very near Parque underground - about a 5 minute walk. And very near the El Corte Engles supermarket with underground, cinemas, fast food outlets etc. The hotel is about a thirty second walk from a Chinese buffet which we used twice and thought was excellent.

"Great! Can recommend!"
We stayed in Turim Lisboa for 3 nights in March 2007. We chose this hotel after we had read its excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. We can definitely recommend it. The room was modern, spacious and very clean. The bathroom was big and clean too. Breakfast was buffet style, very nice and filling and served till late (10.30am). The hotel was in a good quiet location. There was a supermarket just round a corner. The nearest tube station Metro Parque, which takes you right in the city centre, is only 5 minutes away or you could take a 20 minutes long walk to the city. It is also easy to get to and from the airport. Take the bus no. 91 to Saldanha. This about 20 minutes ride costs 3 euro. From there it is only 7 min walk to the hotel. I can recommend buying a day travel card at metro station which you can use on metro, buses, trams. Not on the bus from the airport though. If I should mention negative points: there was a safe in the room but you had to pay to use it. TV in the room had no English speaking channels, which we found very strange. The worst was the Internet fee. They are charging unbelievable 5 euro for 10 minutes! Lisbon is a lovely city. You can’t leave without visiting monastery Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and its beautiful Cloister in Belem and castle Castelo de Sao Jorge. Food is a bit disappointing though. It’s basically a piece of fish and 3 boiled potatoes (a piece of veg if you’re lucky).Be careful in restaurants. Without asking they bring you ‘complimentary’ bread, glass of Port, ham, cottage cheese, olives, cheese….but you are charged for every single thing. So if you don’t want it send it back.

"Great Hotel and staff"
I recently stayed in Lisbon for 8 nights. I stayed at the Turim Hotel. I booked the hotel online, based mostly on reviews I read online. I really enjoyed my stay in Lisbon and the Turim was exactly the type of hotel I was looking for. The hotel isn't located in the heart of the "Turist District", yet it's about 3 blocks away from the "Parque" subway station. Making it quite easy to go into the downtown core. The area around the hotel is fairly quiet, clean and safe. A few restaurants within walking distance. The morning breakfast was very good, always a good selection of breads, jams, cold cuts, scrambled eggs etc. The staff was very helpful and consistant... When I mentioned that I was going to the Algarve after my stay in Lisbon, the person at the reception asked me if I wanted him to search the internet for bus time schedules. Later that evening when I returned to my hotel. There was an envelope in my room with a printout of all buses leaving for the Algarve from Lisbon on the dates I had requested. The room was spacious and had a "happy" mood to it... In the evening while I relaxed for another day of sight seeing, I felt very comfortable and pleased to be there. The wooden floors and the furniture was not your typical..."let me out of here" hotel room. My room had a balcony and I could see the Castle of Sao Jorge in the distance, very nice. If you don't mind having a short subway ride to get into the more turist locations. Unless something radically changes, I think you'll enjoy this friendly, clean hotel, located in a nice area of Lisbon.
