U Mesta Vidne Hotel is located in the pedestrian zone Latran in the tranquil centre of the UNESCO protected architectural area. Walking distance from all major tourist attractions of Cesky Krumlov.

The house U mesta Vidne is a large complex of buildings. The first written record about this house is from 1565, when it was owned by Hans Masserhansl. His son baker Hans lived here until the first decade of the seventeenth century. In 1611 the property was worth 430 Meissner groschen. The baker family Porth owned the house from 1655 to 1778. A bread shop used to be there at that time. There was a fire in 1798 but the house continued to be used as a bakery after the fire. In 1870, Tomas Soukup requested permission to carry out a reconstruction of the house U mesta Vidne so it would be more efficient as an inn. In 1929, Jiri Kerschbaum purchased three stand-alone wings of the neighbouring Claretian convent. Between 1929 and 1931 the building was changed to the hotel.

"Good, Clean Value in Czech Republic"
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in late September 2006 -- I decided to make a spur of the moment trip to Cesky Krumlov after I couldn't deal with crowds in Prague any more -- I am so glad I did! This is a fairytale town complete with beautiful castle, winding river, quiet mornings and nights, unique architecture, the works! I walked into this hotel after getting off the bus and they had a room that was ready right away. The hotel I believe has been recently renovated and my room was very clean and cheerful with lots of character and actually quite spacious for a European room with desk, large bed and tables, full closet and good-sized bathroom. The hotel is on a quiet end of town, away from the river which means it gets really quiet as soon as the shops close, which is great for sleeping. The locaion was very convenient to the castle and only a short walk right into the heart of town and the winding streets around the river. The breakfast is included each day which was fine, very basic European-style choices but felt the hotel was a really good value for the money (same price as my apartment in Prague which was nowhere near as nice and had tons of fire hazards -- this hotel was very well marked with emergency exits, fire safety equipment, etc., just like a very modern hotel in any Western city).

We loved this little hotel in CK. The staff were wonderful, the rooms were new and neat, the hotel ambiance was lovely and the breakfasts (included) were great. It is a small hotel, so don't necessarily expect all of the failities of a big hotel. There are no mini-bars in the room (but drinks can be purchased from the restaurant), there is only a small exercise facility (but at least there is one!) and there are no internet conenctions in the rooms (but the hotel offers a free internet service in the front lobby).
