"AMAZING MOSCOW"
Since my youth I had always been interested in the wonderful architecture of the Ukraina in Moscow as it’s one of Stalin’s so called seven wedding cake skyscrapers, very like the Moscow University. .
In my early years I never thought I would have the opportunity to actually stay there. It's such a wonderful piece of Moscow history and I have to say my stay was terrific.
From the moment you see this wonderful building loom up near the Moscow River it becomes part of your Moscow experience. One enters the foyer midst towering ceilings, colored marble and glowing chandeliers; it's all quite breath taking.
I found the rooms to be comfortable with excellent bathroom facilities, TV with many channels, a refrigerator to keep your beer cold, a delightful writing desk with Ukraina note paper and pen and a wonderful view from many of the rooms. Although a little pricey the room service was excellent.
The hotel has about seven restaurants with a variety of food available, although I found some of the prices a little steep. There is an excellent business center with internet and charming girls on the desk, a hair dresser, pharmacy, tailor service, currency exchange and a phone center, (also with most charming girls). In the foyer are several excellent souvenir shops and plenty of comfortable soft lounge areas that make you want to stay there all day and watch the passing parade, from different regions of Russia as well as the world.
I found the young reception staff to be polite and helpful and the in house laundry service very efficient.
The hotel is in a very good location, one can walk across the river
too lots of interesting areas, there is a view of the Parliament building across the river, the trolley bus stops are about five minutes walk away and a metro station close by as well.
There are also banks and a supermarket close by. Nearby on the river are a number of river boats which cater for cruises along the river and I recommend people take one of these trips. The views along the river are wonderful, Gorky Park is stunning in autumn and one is reminded now and then of Venice as you glide past some of the magnificent buildings close to the water. You also get a great view of the Kremlin from a different perspective. The Hotel is set is a park like area as well and there are lovely walks along the riverside. The Hotel lobby has an excellent bar and cafe area with snacks and seems to be open most of the day and night.
The Buffet breakfast is to die for in my books. The room to start with is eye popping, with chandeliers, huge windows looking out to the river or the park and a choice of food that was simply delicious and wonderful. There is a huge choice on the bread table, fruit, cereals, fruit juice, salad dishes, hot dishes including eggs scrambled or as omelets, sausages, mixed vegetables, pancakes, cold meats, traditional Russian dishes, plus choice of teas and coffee. As if that’s not enough there is a complete table of mouth watering cakes and slices, with lashings of cream and chocolate and fruit, etc .
To me the Ukraina was a delightful experience and if I never stay there again the memories will stay with me forever.
Thank you to the hotel and its wonderful staff.

"madonna concert"
We went to Moscow by train from finland to enjoy Madonna concert which was fantasticand stayed at the U kraina hotel for 2 nights.
We reserve tru moscow-hotels.net without any problems .
I was a little bit cautious after reading some of the comments on this site about staff , prostitutes etc.
Nothing like that , extremely polite staff, speaking exellent english.
We arrived early in the morning and could check in the room immediatly very large clean room , nothing fancy but still good and quiet -
Absolutly not one single massage /call girls in sight. so some of you will be disapointed...
Good breakfast too , the only down side are the taxis drivers outside who always tried to charge you stupid prices ,,,

"romantic weekend"
I absolutely fell in love with this city. I have travelled for years here there and everywhere and this hotel gives you the experience that would accompany being in moscow, or what you could imagine. I found that the location was great as you had to walk or get the metro to all the major sights. The whole point or being away from home is to discover all things new and get lost whilst finding. I felt extremely safe within the hotel enviroment, and as for the call girls that was just a side show, not really a big deal, just amusing. The staff were excellent as we had lost our luggage for two days and they did everything they possibly could to help, also they were very helpful in their reccomendations or where to eat out and what to do at night. The room was excellent as we were on the 19th floor with a great view, and a massive window which you could sit in and have a beer and watch the world go by. The hotel is directley opposite the parliment building and at the top of the hotel their is an observation deck, don't miss it. I found the whole experience just as I had expected and more. Its not just the places you go but the people you meet that make a good place, and I found the moscovites shy, showy, cold and friendly. EXCELLENT HOTEL AND CITY!!!

"Loved the Ukraina"
We stayed at this hotel in June for 4 nights. The location is ok, you could be closer to the centre, but for the price this hotel is a good bet. Russian hotels are not cheap, especially in the summer. So the price for this hotel was pretty good. The rooms are large but look like they haven't been updated for a while. If you like this kind of thing it's fine. Although it's clean, the shower in the bathroom has very low low water pressure and there is no air conditioning. Again this might be different in some of the more renovated rooms. Breakfast was, standard buffet affair. The tube is a good 10 mins away and you have to cross some very dodgy roads, the drivers in Russia don't really care too much about the pedestrians. But the location is good, only 4 stops from the Kremlin and other tourist sights.
The staff don't speak English very well but if you use enough pointing they'll eventually understand what you mean. There is a TV in the room with 2 English channels BBC News and CNN.
Getting there from the airport is a scarey 50min taxi ride, which will set you back 50Euros. You can get the tube but it'll take you about an hour and a half so only for the really organised.
Overall I definitely recommend this hotel for the price and for those people who are coming to Moscow to see the city, if you are planning huge amounts of time in the hotel, then you might want to spend more money and get something more western.
