"All the services you would expect from a 5 star establishment"
Urban Hotel's location is superb. It is a 5 minute stroll from the Prado museum, plaza Santa Ana and is a 15 minute walk from the Salamanca district. Staff are very friendly, always someone nearby to carry your case, open doors, provide restaurant recommendations etc. All the services you would expect from a 5 star establishment.

"Great stay at the Urban Hotel - Madrid"
I had an amazing trip in Spain. I spent about 10 days in Spain. I’ll post a trip report later when I have more time. I just got back. I’ve been to Europe dozens of times but this was my first trip to Spain and I was very impressed. I wasn’t aware of the massive tourism to Spain but it actually gets more tourists than the United States! It’s #2 in the world with about 60 million tourists per year! I booked the Urban Hotel ahead of time as I read great reviews of it and I heard it was modern and upscale. I booked a Junior Suite which was pricey at 350€ (u$s 472) per night. Very pricey but the room was very nice. I don’t have any complaints at all. It was a holiday and I like to pamper myself on holidays. The cheapest room they had was 250 € (u$s 338) per night for a normal room. They have 96 rooms in this modern hotel. My room was very nice with a plasma TV, very nice marble bathroom and high ceilings. The area was very nice and convenient and near the Banco de España Metro station. My room was very quiet. The service was good as well. I read a negative review after my trip on Trip Advisor but I didn’t have any complaints at all. I ordered room service very very late one night after coming back from a night out and they were prompt but the choice of menu isn’t that complete with mostly sandwiches late at night. I didn’t hit the bar but it was always lively late at night. If I had to do it over again I’d probably just book a normal room. I met up with someone that I met that was staying here and I saw her room and it was fine. Personally I would have preferred the apartment that I booked. I found it an amazing value for the room but if you are a hotel person than definitely this would be a consideration. Anyway, I had no problems at all and the service was good at the Urban Hotel. I’d recommend the normal room at 250€ vs. the bigger room as you probably won’t be in your room much. I was out and about all day. I made my booking directly at the hotels website at (--) All in all, I had a great trip in Spain. Madrid and Barcelona are both world class cities. If I didn’t live in Buenos Aires, I’d move to either Madrid or Barcelona as I really loved both.

"Fabulous choice!"
This is a hotel that is new construction and is a masterpiece of comfort and design. Everything in the hotel web site is absolutely true and this is without a doubt one of the nicest and probably best designed hotel in which I have stayed. There was excellent closet space accommodating a stay of more than two days, lighting and blackout shades were excellent and the bathroom had great counter space and extras. The shower was fabulous. The location is also excellent, almost equidistant between the Golden Triangle of museums and the Royal Palace, and just a couple of blocks to the Plaza de Santa Ana for tapas and al fresco people watching. Don't miss the hotel's Glass Bar on the main level!

"Outstanding hotel and service"
An outstanding hotel in a great European City. The service was always second to none, and our junior suite was great, clean and comfortable. Only minor niggle was a noisy party in the bar one night, but apart from that, highly recommended.

"Great looks, service, location"
This hotel is great-looking, a modern sleek earth-tone look with interesting art. My room was quite small with little closet space, but was attractive and cozy with the most modern amenities. The hotel service was simply excellent. The concierges did everything for me from obtaining last-minute tickets to the Saturday night bullfight, to lending me their converter so I could charge appliances. They were invariably pleasant and spoke very good English. The food in the restaurant is very good. A few words about the location: it is quite central and is particularly good for museum sightseeing, as the three major museums are each within a 5 to 10 minute walk. However it is also noisy. I was in a fourth floor room overlooking a side alley, and the combination of noise from the street and the bar downstairs was a real annoyance. Do ask for a room at the back of the hotel and on a high floor if you aren't a heavy sleeper.

"Beautiful property"
This is a beautiful hotel, a very successful match of state-of-the-art modern design (most visible in the bathrooms) and antiques (the owner of the chain is an archeologist). Our suite had five antique Hindu figures in a glass case and an (empty) antique Chinese armoire, which looked surprisingly good alongide a bathroom taken straight from a style magazine and 2 plasma TV's. It's not just style, either - the restaurant downstairs was excellent, albeit expensive, and the bar is very hip. Location is excellent, equidistant to the Prado and the main shopping area at Sol metro. (If you arrive by Metro, Sevilla is the nearest station - walk down one of the side streets to Jeronimo where the hotel is.) There were a few gripes. Housekeeping walked into our room one morning despite the 'do not disturb' sign. On Sunday they delivered exactly the same issue of the same newspaper as on Saturday, since that paper did not have a Sunday edition!! The 'free' morning coffee tray came with an unexpected Euro 3 room service charge. And our suite had no daylight, since it overlooked the internal atrium. This avoided traffic noise and, in gloomy January, was not a problem, but in a sunnier month I would have been annoyed. Don't let any of this put you off, though. This hotel will look very dated in five years time, but for now is state of the art. If you want a suite (which will actually be an open-plan junior suite), we booked on Opodo - the hotels own website doesnt seem to sell suites online. Highly recommended.

"Superb hotel in a superb location!"
Period: 27-30 jan (3 nigths); Price: €180 per nigth (double without breakfast). Very convinient location in the heart of the city: you can reach almost everything with a short walhing (from 1 min to Thyssen Bornemizsa to 15 min to Palacio Real). Very modern structure ... totally "minimalistic". Friendly staff ... good room with beautifull bathroom ... excellent room service. Fantastic rooftop with a pool (ok it isn't an olimpic pool ... but considering where you are and the reduced hotel's size ... it's big enough! Good hip and trendy restaurant (Europa deco) ... but the same menu from his sister/brother hotel Villa Real East 47 ... and a little bit pricy! Giancarlo

"Cool Place"
Wow, I booked recently for the Urban hotel but I did not realize it was a place such a cool place until I experience it, I definitively find the building an impressive construction full of details all around, a mixture of modern architecture and ancient sculptures. Personally I was put up in a spectacular room which had a beautiful piece of art. In few words a spectacular hotel.

"Welcoming art hotel"
We spent 3 nights over a weekend at Hotel Urban and what a find. Thank you to the other reviewers for their recommendations. Hotel Urban is a great compliment to their sister hotel. Fantastic rooftop entertainment area with a lively bar and restaurant. Excellent security tops off a memorable experience. First class service by all team members and a great breakfast. This is a must stay Madrid hotel. Aside from the great location and wonderful Egyptian artefacts, in the middle of summer the warmth and cool and welcoming atmosphere made it a delight to come home to after a day out visiting one of the worlds great cities. This is a must experience hotel.

"Loved the Hotel Urban!!!"
We just stayed at the Hotel Urban earlier this month and absolutely loved it. The staff was most helpful in terms of restaurant recommendations, driving/walking directions, general advice, etc.. - although we definitely found the daytime staff much more helpful than the evening folks.. The rooms were not large, but efficient with their space.. very high-end modern design which we like.. The only complaint I had about our room was that it was very dark and since the nearby bldgs are so close by, you have to keep your shades down which keeps the room completely dark no matter what time of day.. I like more natural lighting so that would be my only negative feedback, really. The location is great. Walking distance to Plaza del Sol, Plaza Mayor, even Plaza Espana.. Also Retiro Park, the Prado, Thyssien museum, most everywhere. We had a blast in Madrid and the Hotel Urban was a big part of that! If you don't have breakfast included in your rate, then just walk to the left of the hotel maybe 1/2 a block and there is a great little cafe. It will save you the 10-15 Euro for each breakfast!

"Simply Superb"
We have just spent 3 days in Madrid and chose the Hotel Urban after hearing good news about the hotel. It was superb. From the second we were walking to the front doors our bags were taken off us and the customer service started. The staff were brilliant. The interior of the hotel is fast becoming a small attraction in itself with the locals and other holiday makers wishing they had chosen this hotel. On arrival I was extremely surprised that we were offered a choice of rooms and shown each one so that we could choose the style that suited us. From other reviews on the site many have noted the street at the front hotel. For us we actually chose this view as we found that looking at the rear rooms some of them were a bit cramped and had no view. The double glazing is excellent, so to be honest we had no problem with the street. In fact it made for excellent viewing. As for the room well I have attached some photos and as you can see well worth the money, and everything you would want from a 5 Star hotel. A nice bonus for the hotel is that past reception there is a free internet terminal which is useful for checking flights. As for location you cant go wrong here. 5-10 mins to the Del Prado, and the stunning parks, and literally 5 mins walk to the main centre and the attractions. A small tip if you fancy decent tapas turn left out of the hotel and walk a few mins down the road and you’ll find the Museo de Jamon, cracking service and ambience with the locals. All in all for a weekend break you wont get better than this hotel. Going back again sometime.

"funky, cool, Urban"
What a fantastic hotel. Blew me away when we walked in - brilliant doormen, service, receptionist, not to mention the decor and the Glass Bar. Wow-factor rooms with expensive decor and bathrooms with accessories to fit even the most demanding girls dreams. Fantastic central location, stunning interior design and cool roof terrace away from the dirt of madrid streets. We loved it so much we nearly didn't see much of Madrid at all. Expensive - and rightly so!
