Great hotel for cross-country skiing Great place to ski, a 5 minute walk to the downhill station if you don't want to wait for the frequent buses. Excellent food, the seafood and fish is superb. A top notch buffet for breakfast and dinner with waitress served meal on Saturday night for those leaving the next day. The restuarant has lovely views over the valley, likewise bedrooms also have great views, but ask for a valley view. Hotel is 400m from the lakeside x-country trail and buses to other areas leave from the front door. Geilo is on the Oslo to Bergen train line and the hotel will kindly pick you up from the station. We have stayed here every year we have skiied in Norway and we will be back next year.

A well kept secret! The hotel was first class (for a 3 star), clean and well serviced. Nothing was too much trouble for all members of staff. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We had views overlooking Geilolia at the back of the hotel - absolutely fantastic. Food was excellent and plentiful - we never had an issue with anything running out. Just be warned, if you don't like fish, the menu may be slightly limited. Ski bus stop right outside hotel which is on time and very efficient. On the skiing front, Geiloheisen side (pistes next to hotel) is the harder side to ski and Geilolia (by the Vestlia Hotel) are easier but quieter. If you are red run proficent, you can ski to a run above the hotel, and ski back down the road, virtually to the door! My husband, a skier of 18 years says it was his best holiday yet and refuses to tell anyone to ensure it remains a well kept secret.......
