"Enchanting"
My 91 year old father, 19 year old daughter and I are currently staying at the Vedema for 5 nights. We spent 10 days in Italy and looked forward to a peaceful time in Santorini. I was a little reluctant after booking this hotel, after reading several reviews, but I have not been disappointed. The hotel is enchanting. Staff is wonderful and very accomidating and although it is a little out of the way, everyone has made the distance minor with all of their suggestions...thanks for the memories....

"The perfect anniversary"
We recently and regretfully returned from the Vedema. My husband and I spend 5 glorious days and nights at this superb resort. Once we arrived in Santorini we had no worries. We were whisked away to the resort by a friendly driver. Upon our arrival at the resort we were given champagne and a tour of the property while our luggage was seamlessly carted up to our room. Our room was elegant, the pool and spa at the resort is great. Also, take advantage of the resort wine tour, you won't regret it. The service was impeccable. I was initially concerned that the hotel was not in Fira, however it was great to be away from the throngs of tourist and it was easy to take the Vedema shuttle to town when desired. We found the Vedema made for a perfect last week on the Greek isles and can't wait to return.

"Superb in Santorini"
Superb in Santorini only begins to describe our recent stay in this excellent hotel. Our days at the Vedema, a Starwood hotel, made a quintessential Greek Island visit one for the memory books. The rooms of this top-of-line property are pleasantly appointed with traditional furnishings and fittings in modern airy arrangements. Light and breezes flood in from all directions complementing the exquisite setting of the 400-year old winery. Food service from breakfast buffets, through room service to restaurant meals was some of the best we've ever experienced anywhere in the world - ever. The staff is friendly and pro-active. They and owner-operators, Antonias and Kalia take personal interest in guest satisfaction and customer enjoyment. Value for money is important - Vedema is well worth the price. Genuine and reasoned care was a highlight of our stay. They know the island and used that to advantage us and our enjoyment. The pool and Pool bar and deck were fun and well kitted-out, but if beaches are your thing they have a private one. Simply put, Vedema is a great place to stay. My wife and I have visited Santorini several times using different hotels. On the next trip, we'll only visit if the Vedema has a room!!

"A very nice surprise"
After having read all the reviews on tripadvisor & other sites, I was concerned about whether we would enjoy this hotel. We had gotten a package rate from Starwood ("Welcome to Greece Package") and had only paid USD $360 including tax per night for a Sr. Dorian Apt. (which, given the current exchange rate, was quite good). However, all that we read said the hotel was poorly situated and not so wonderful. We LOVED it. Granted, we were extremely lucky in that we were given an upgrade to an Olympian Suite (1050 eur per night usually) which had a private pool and a wonderful view of the vineyard. But overall, even if we hadn't gotten the upgrade, the hotel was charming, the service was five star (Vaya in particular was a very well informed & helpful concierge), and the food at the main restaurant Vinsanto (I think that's the name) was very good. Santorini is such a small island that location isn't so important for getting to explore everything. The hotel arranged for us to use their bikes for one day of exploration (free); another day they had scooters dropped off for us (20 eur each). Of course, if we had wanted the "caldera" experience, Katikies or something of the sort would have been far more appropriate, but also far more expensive. This was a really nice hotel with great staff & we were very happy with our stay.

"It was fantastic!"
is not always the case that 5 star prices result in a 5 star holiday but the Vedema Resort in Santorini definitely lives up to expectations. The surroundings, the accommodation, the food and the service are all very good, as they should be. More importantly the Vedema Resort does not fail to live up to the highest expectations. We found that the location of the hotel is a key to the enjoyment of our holiday. We have booked an Aegean Residence with a private open-air Jacuzzi, it was heavenly. The hotel is located in a beautiful, calm and traditional village which permits you to combine a relaxing place to stay together with the advantage of being near the unique volcanic beach of Perivolos and the cosmopolitan centre of Thyra. The resort attracted mainly American crowd, with a nice mix of age groups, not surprisingly mainly couples, and with a good vibe. Lucky enough you would have the chance to have a little chat with a low profile Hollywood star!!! The restaurant food was wonderful with unique flavors. Highly recommended! The breakfast buffet is a very good reason not to spend all morning in bed. The staff has been really attentive and looked after us during our entire stay which means that you get chance to keep asking all those little questions you think of during your stay. We made full use of all the facilities including the spa (which is really nice and cozy). I would actually recommend getting information from the hotel for general inquires regarding restaurants and places to visit, if you don’t want to be a tourist ‘victim’. Don’t miss Oia where you can see the most famous sunset of the world, as it is also a great way to meet a few other people and enjoy the beauties of Santorini! We stayed for 7 nights and really did not feel like we had stayed in one place for too long. We are not easily pleased but would recommend the Vedema Resort without any doubt! Its been a beautiful experience….

"The Vedema taught us how to relax!!"
My partner and I stayed at the Vedema for a couple of days after a cruise. As many posters have said, I too was nervous about the Vedema after reading some of the comments. However, I was so glad that I did not act upon other peoples words or I would have missed out on a wonderful experience in Santorini. The main area of Santorini is called Fira which is located in the middle of the island. On one side of Fira is Oia (the sunset side) and on the opposite side of Fira is the Vedema. All in alll you can get from the Vedema to Oia by taxi in less than 20 mins. It is also a beautiful drive as well. We stayed in the Agean Suite with an outdoor jacuzzi. All of the villa's are laid out as suites however the Agean was a tad bit above that. The villa was very large. It had a nice size living room, fireplace and dining room table. A wetbar and a full size frig as the mini bar. There was a canopy bed in the average size bedroom which was off of a large dressing room that had two large closets , a desk and sitting area. The bathroom was off of the dressing area which had a jacuzzi bath tub, double sinks and a shower. We were on the top floor so we had a very large deck that came off of the bedroom. On the deck was two teak lounge chairs, a nice teak table with 4 chairs and a jacuzzi. So you can see this was large. Our view was of the sea, the Olive Trees, and downtown. I would not have traded our view for anything. All around you are beautiful blue domed churches, vineyards, caper farms, Olive trees etc.... It is a true Santorini experience. The Pool is very large with a great little pool side restaurant that serves the best breakfast buffett and lunch. There is also a nice size bar that serves whatever you desire. I have not seen such a well stocked bar at a pool. The staff of the Vedema was top notch. We made several request for dinner reservations, taxis, suggestions etc,, and they were always ready and eager to help. Depending on what you like, however the Vedema is out of the busy, husle and busle activity of Fira so at night time it is so still that you can just lay back and count the stars and clear your head. If you are wantingn to be the middle of everything than this resort is not for you. However, the Vedema does offer shuttles that run very seldom to the beach and to Fira. You have to get a taxi to go to Oia. Please take my suggestion and do not rent a car or scooter. The streets are very narrow and crowded. I saw more accidents in the short time I was there and they were all visitors. A taxi is well worth the investment. If I may suggest a place to eat for the food but most importantly the view. It was also suggested and rated by Conde Neste. It is called Ambrosia and is located in Oia. Do not get it confused with a place called Ambrosia and Nectar. You want the one only called Ambrosia. I would suggest the Vedema to anyone!
