"nothing flash "
Victor Masse Hotel's location was fine and while it could be considered the Red light district it was hardly noticeable and we all felt perfectly safe.
The property was nothing flash but you get what you pay for.

Stayed here recently and was very pleased. The location was fine and while it could be considered the Red light district it was hardly noticeable and we all felt perfectly safe.
The property was nothing flash but you get what you pay for. The rooms were clean and breakfast was good.

"A perfectly decent hotel"
I stayed here with a friend earlier this month (May 2007) and liked the hotel a lot. It's by no means a luxury hotel - the rooms are small (we had a twin room at the front of the building, which I gather was one of the largest, and it was still fairly "cosy") and the bedding and towels were slightly worn, but it was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful - they even helped me when I stupidly locked my keys inside my luggage! Also, our bathroom was absolutely immaculate and very spacious, with its own window. One slight warning: the breakfast room is very small and can get cramped if you go down for breakfast at a busy time. But the breakfast itself is perfectly good - typical continental stuff, croissants, rolls, preserves, yogurt, coffee.
Also, a quick word about the area where the hotel is situated. Please ignore any of these reviews that say it's dodgy, sleazy or scary. Yes, the Place Pigalle and the Boulevard de Clichy are Paris's red light district, but the general atmosphere is fun rather than scary, and although you might be asked if you'd like to step inside some of the interestingly-themed local clubs, the people aren't at all pushy or menacing! Also, don't be scared of the cafe on the south-west corner of the Place Pigalle. We went there for lunch on our last day and it was by far the nicest lunch we had all week - in a city full of good cafes! - and the staff were lovely.
