"Charm is in the details..."
This is hotel is really charming from the outside with lots of fabulous touches inside. I particularily loved the stair cases which were crammed with lots of cool pieces, that gave the hotel a really sense of charm. The rooms have a really cool cabin style feel, gorgeous bathrooms and fabulous hastens beds. I was however quite disappointed with the standard of cleanliness in my room and throughout the hallways etc. It looked like it hadn't been vacummed in a while. Overall I enjoyed my brief stay here, Its location is fantastic and the staff are very pleasant. But I couldn't help feeling that it lacked something for its rating...

"It was OK, but I had expected 'Great'."
The location of this hotel really is excellent, however as a hotel it didn't stand out. The reception staff were helpful. the room was smaller than we expected and 2 beds in a double room in a 5 star hotel was unusual to say the least. The beds were comfortable however as the room was located over the bar it was a little noisy.
The room was clean, and the decor was unique and interesting, each room is themed. Molton Brown toiletries were a nice touch.
Overall i'd say it was 'OK' but for the price I expected 'Great'

"Who could ask for anything more?"
I was at the Victory Hotel for three nights, flying solo, in late March 2007. At first, I had heard good things, but I really wasn't looking for very much (I tend to be pretty low-maintenance in terms of what I am looking for in a hotel). To say the least, I was thoroughly impressed and my expectations were vastly exceeded from start to finish. The staff was always very courteous and helpful, and at all times of the day and night (I had to leave very early in the morning, but that was totally no problem thanks to arrangements the staff made for me). The entrance areas, hallways, and room I stayed in were all kept spotlessly clean. On the whole, it was very comfortable and pleasant, and even though the cost was a little steep for me and my student budget, I felt like it was well worth it.
Attention to detail is another real forte at this hotel. It's named after the HMS Victory, and there are nautical decorations throughout,
but not in a tacky sense. It's not over-the-top, either (except maybe
in the lobby, but that's another story)..everything is in its rightful place. And in another nice touch, all the rooms are named after sea captains. So if you're into that kind of stuff, this could be just the place you're looking for.
Swedish language skills not so good? No trouble there, either - my Swedish is limited, but practically every staff member I spoke with was able to speak to me in fluent English. Of course, their Swedish is pretty solid, too, so if you would prefer to converse in Swedish then I am sure they wouldn't mind that...
To sum it all up, if you're looking for a cozy getaway in a centralized location yet somewhere you can feel free to chill out, then the Victory Hotel will probably live up to its name for you!

"loved it!"
I stayed in the Victory Hotel in December 2005 and had a fabulous time. I was travelling to Stockholm for the first time and on my own so obviously i wanted a nice, safe, friendly and recommended hotel. I'm really glad i chose the Victory! The reception staff were all really nice and friendly and spoke perfect English - my limited Swedish didnt stretch that far - and able to give me lots of advice on where to shop, etc. My single room was pretty tiny, right up on the top floor in the eaves, fairly cramped for space, but not so much so that it was annoying in any way, if you're on your own you dont need acres of space. The quality of the fittings certaintly didnt suffer because of the size of room. The decent bathroom was divided off from the bedroom by a curtain which was a bit weird but i certaintly didnt feel hard done by at all, i had great views, it was a really nice little room and totally spotless. All very Swedish Ikea but with nice historical touches. Double rooms are much much bigger i understand. The hotel itself was really good, a great old building dead central in the right district - Gamla Stan - making everything in easy reach. The breakfast had to be paid for seperately and they dont really do evening meals, but do at their sister hotel Nelson. This was no problem at all as there are more than enough places to eat. When you do pay for breakfast the choice is absolutely vast, and itll keep you going for hours. The sauna was nice after a really cold day. i thoroughly enjoyed the place and would definantly go again without hesitation. Oh and try to find time to have afternoon tea in the Hotel its rather lovely.
