Separated by a raised sundeck in the hotel's gardens are a 23-metre-long freeform family pool surrounded by a sundeck and a 14-metre kidney-shaped children's pool surrounded by a sunning lawn and palm trees. "Great hotel"
Have just returned from a weekend at the Ampalius. I looked at a lot of the hotels in vilamoura before deciding on this one. The hotel was nice and clean and in an excellent location. Only 2 minutes walk from the marina,casino ect. The rooms were an ok size and clean. The breakfast was nice with a good selection that was replenished straight away. bar food was good as well but slightly expensive. The only thing that would have made it better would be tea/coffee facilities in the room. I know they want you to use room service and charge you 3 euros for the privilege but it would have been nice to make yourself a drink in the morning before going down to breakfast. Overall nice hotel that I would go back to.

"Super Location, Great Experience"
Recently organised a weekend break for a group friends and stayed at the Vila Gale Ampalius. Everybody was impressed with the hotel and none of our pary had any complaints. The hotel is ideally located on the beach and beside the marina. Staff were very helpful.
Rooms were a good size, clean and well maintained. They offer great value in low season, and upgrades to junior and senior suites were available at exceptionally reasonable rates. I am already planning a return visit.

"Simply...........superb!"
We go on an annual golfing weekend on the 2nd weekend of every March, and I have to say the Vila Gale Ampalius was by far the best hotel we have stayed at in Vilamoura. We were sharing a triple room and our past experiences were a really cramped room with a tiny little camp bed. Not at the Vila Gale. We had a huge twin room with a seperate lounge area and a seperate eating area. The only gripe was that the kitchenette was locked for some reason. Our view was sensational of both the marina and beach.
The food whilst wasnt great was better than we had experienced before and there were some superb restaurants on the marina. One chinese restaurant was outstanding (cant remember the name but had big stone chinese figures outside).
We will definitely be going back next year and probably for many more years to come. Highly recommended.

"Ampalisu stikes again"
We visited the Ampalius for what is now the 4th time in recent years. My wife and I work hard all year and although like experiencing new things, we have found a hotel that we keep coming back to for a really relaxing holiday. In fact, whilst there last year we met with and noticed no less than 12 parties who had been there during the same weeks for the previous two years! (All nationalities).
We stay B + B for 14 nights and are always impressed with the facilities. Breakfast buffet is out of this world, something for everyone and the waistline can easily go to pot! Rooms are sup[erb, the one we had this year had been refurbished and the new Air Con was particulary welcome. Exceptionally clean, great staff - very attentive but not intrusive.
Weather was superb again, although we had an unusal two days of wind and cloud, but the rest of the time temps were well over 30 degrees.
We dont tend to eat in the hotel, not for any other reason that down in the marina ( 5 - 10 mins walk) you have a multitude of good restaurants and bars. Vilamoura is exceptionally cosmopolitan and some of the boats berthed there are amazing! We can recommend restaurants like Cataplana, the Chinese Harbour View (up the steps) and Oustra D'or.
It is worth paying that bit extra at Ampalius for a sea view, there are loads of rooms that are on the curved ocean frontage and this just adds to the room.
We ARE trying somewhere else this year but will also be fitting in another visit as we would feel that we'd missed out if we didnt. Perfect for couples especially, plenty of entertainment nearby in the marina and some entertainment in the hotel. If you want excellent breakfasts, great views, staff and facilities, with not too many children, this is the place for you.
