"Much To Recommend"
Staying on Lido instead of, for instance, San Marco, has a lot going for it, and this high-standard, medium-sized hotel offers all those benefits at a very reasonable price. The rooms were average for a modern hotel but lacked nothing in terms of convenience and luxury. The only less-than-ideal issues are that being 100metres inland from the quayside means you don't get the same view of the city that some of the quayside hotels offer and the breakfasts were a little on the meagre side. On the plus side, it's located on a very quiet back-road (there are cars on Lido) which makes al fresco breakfasts a delight. Excellent value for money.

"Incredible Value, Lovely Hotel"
My husband and I only stayed 2 nights at this hotel, but were thoroughly impressed. This hotel was only a 5-10 min walk from the vaporetto stop and roughly 15 min from Piazza San Marco (via vaporetto). However we very much enjoyed riding in these "water buses" so it was more of a pleasure to have to ride them back and forth. The rooms were a pretty average size, for European hotels, but lavishly decorated with hand-blown Murano glass chandeliers and lamps and hand-painted desks and wardrobes. The bathroom was rather cramped and I could see a person with a larger girth than ours having trouble, but it was spotlessly clean. The balcony was very large; unfortunate that the weather was too cold to enjoy it. At night Lido became very quiet and it was easy to get a good sleep. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast with pastries, cereals, yogurt, cheeses, juice and coffee. Unlike the experiences of previous reviewers we were never pressured to take the "Murano glass tours" and did not receive any form of a sales pitch. We also saw that coffee and tea, as well as breakfast, were available for room service but had no interest in that. Booking was very easy through the commercial hotel websites and the staff confirmed our reservations via email. The multi-lingual staff also took the time to answer our questions about touring the area, local culture and the Italian language. We found the whole experience very pleasant and will definitely return.

"Hotel Villa Edera -- A Hidden Gem!"
A great little hotel
The Hotel Villa Edera is a charming little hotel that will make any trip to Venice a true delight. We made our reservations several months in advance and everything was perfectly in order upon our arrival. The staff was attentive to our every need and very helpful with questions about restaurants and excursions in the Venice area. There are also several fine restaurants near by.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. For a special experience ask for the private room on the third floor. This is the best room in the hotel. It is very large and opens onto a large balcony that is a wonderful gathering place for a small group.
The hotel is less than a five minute walk to the water taxi which will take you to St. Mark's Square. (Get the all day pass which will allow you to use all the water taxi's in Venice) Street parking is available but difficult to find. Be sure to park in a 24 hour spot. Many streets are 60 minutes parking only.
