Villa Flori Hotel, a short distance from Milan, appears in a beautiful panoramic position right on the shores of the first branch of Lake Como. The hotel, once a villa which was a bone of contention among many Lombard aristocrats, is immersed in a beautiful age-old park where the Marquis Flori, ancient owner of the villa, grew lemons and oranges thanks to the mild climate. It was converted into a hotel in 1958 and the complete renovation in 1992 resulted in the creation of a place where the charm of the Venetian stucco work and the meticulously restored frescoes go hand in hand with a cutting edge technical efficiency. |

Villa Flori Hotel appears in a beautiful panoramic position right on the shores of the first branch of Lake Como, 2 km from the centre of Como. It can also be reached by boat. It is located just a few kilometres from the Swiss border and is near the motorway exit.

"Excellent location right on the lake."
We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel to tour Como and Bellagio. The hotel has very nice facilities with expansive views of Lake Como. The room was good, but will be even better after the planned rennovations later in 2006. The hotel restaurant was very good and popular with the locals.

"Stunning views, friendly service"
We were pleasantly surprised by our three night stay at the Hotel Villa Flori. First of all, it is an absolutely gorgeous facility...a palatial villa that makes one feel like royalty, beautifully decorated, with mind-blowing views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. Our room was quite large and comfortable, which was important considering there were three of us (my wife, teenage daughter, and myself) and we were carrying a lot of luggage at the end of a very lengthy tour of Europe. The air conditioning worked well, which was also important, given the hot temps in Como when we were there. The room was absolutely clean, as was the bathroom, and the maid service was stellar during our stay. I can't say enough good things about the restaurant--the food was delicious, innovative, and reasonably priced, all served in a lovely dining room or out on a terrace overlooking the Lake. The staff was very friendly and charming. On the night of July 4, some even wore American Flag ties, which was a thoughtful and appreciated touch. One downside: the hotel sits very close to the Cernobbio road, which is somewhat busy and, at times, noisy. But, even with the honking horns after Italy's rousing World Cup quarter-final win over Germany, it wasn't too loud for us. The hotel earned a very special place in our hearts and we will always be grateful to the staff who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The boat taxi is within a 10 minute walking distance, but Como itself is a little far away to walk. While in Como, visit some of the charming little piazzas, espcially the Piazza del Duc and Piazza del Duomo. And, of course, catch the water taxi to Bellagio. A great visit!

"value and beauty"
stayed here for the first time, took readers advice, this was so good and for 120 euros a night what value, to wake over looking the lake with the water lapping up on the shore, was just magical. good service and positioning made this hotel romantic.
Como is a quaint town with some good resturants, try breeze in, superb.
watch for the car park rather tight and €18 a night, otherwise faultless.

"loved Villa Flori"
Just spent a week in COMO and thank you to all Tripadvisor reviewers who reccomended Villa Flori. We could not fault it in any way. To get a room with a view like we had for the money on Lake Como is very hard to beat. Ate in the restaurant 1 night which is defintely worth it. 5 minutes walk towards Cernobbio we had the best Pizza in our time in Italy. Also we had been reccomended to eat in IL GATTO NERO which is about 20 minutes drive straight up the mountain. The view from the restaurant is amazing , and the food faultless. Found a great winebar called DIVINO near the church in COMO and would definitely reccomend it for light food/wine etc.
Some reviewers had suggested we needed a car for Villa Flori , but we found it was uneccesary, we walked to Como in about 25 minutes , and Cernobbio [where Villa d'este is] In about 10 minutes.
Visited Villa Carlotti which is a definite must, and had a lovely day on a boat all around the lake. Thought Bellagio was overrated but maybe it was just too busy. Spent the second week in Lake ISEO which has a totally different feel but was also great, i have reviewed this separately.

"Loved it."
This was our first stop in Italy. Having read some of the reviews we weren't sure what to expect but we found it excellent. We had a lakeview room with a little balcony. The room was lovely. They have a great restaurant. A perfect beginning to our trip. The people at the desk were very helpful if perhaps not all that friendly. That wasn't unusual with hotels in Italy. The desk people at most hotels seemed a little aloof. The people at Villa Flori were however very helpful. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
