Villa Scacciapensieri Hotel is a marvellous 19th century Villa where one can relax and enjoy the true Tuscany. The green rolling hills of Chianti are to the rear of the hotel.

Built in the 1800's, the magnificent villa (with lift) that houses this classic hotel is surrounded by an extensive Italian-style garden with swimming pool overlooking the Chianti area (unheated and available from May-Oct) and a tennis court.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

* The continental breakfast is served from 7.30 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the breakfast room. Room service is available until 11 a.m. During the summertime, breakfast can be served on the terrace.

* The restaurant "Altri Tempi" (non smoking, air-conditioned) has been synonymous with prestige and elegance for more than 70 years. The preparation of the dishes is very accurate thanks to the ingenuity and experience of the Chef and his kitchen brigade, and only the freshest seasonal and regional ingredients are used. The service is very personalised and attentive, making the guest feeling pampered and taken care of and always at the centre of the attention.

* Several bikes are available for guest use, and the hotel offers both indoor and outdoor parking.

* The hotel has 31 single, double and triple as well as double superiors and suites. Economy rooms of the above stated types are also available.

* All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, private bathroom, hairdryer, mini bar, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, heating and Internet connection.

* Some rooms overlook the ancient walls of Siena or the Chianti hills. One room is specially equipped to welcome disabled guests.

"Attentive and helpful staff"
The staff were all wonderful when I broke my leg in a nearby hill town. They switched our room to make my life easier and it was no hardship eating every night in the hotel restaurant. The food and service were excellent. Cleaniness was very good and the beds were very comfortable. Before the accident we found the bus service to Sienna just outside the hotel to be quick (about a 10 min journey) and reliable. We also found the hotel well situated to travelling to the surrounding area by car. The grounds are pretty and plenty of seating for taking the weight of ones feet!

"Fabulous -- service and atmosphere"
We loved our stay at the villa -- the room we had overlooked the city and the view from the balconies was breathtaking. The room itself was very pretty and comfortable with plenty of room (the two twin beds were originally made separately then pushed together but it was a simple matter to have the chamber maid make it up as a king bed). The bathroom was also sizable and well equipped. All of the staff, from the front desk personnel to the restaurant and lounge servers, were top notch -- very friendly and accomodating but never intrusive. The villa is lovely inside and out. We never had a problem with the location being a little bit outside the city -- in fact, I think I'd recommend that feature to friends. I wouldn't hesitate for a return trip...as often as I could manage it.

"My private villa"
What a charming peaceful retreat after the hectic Easter crowds in the big city! Our room overlooked the side garden and the front gardens and was a pleasure each morning to throw open the shutters to the colors of tuscany, the sun and breeze. We even had a glimpse of the towers of Sienna and the rolling green of the Tuscan hillsides. The two large windows made our room light and airy and two wing chairs and a coffee table became a great place to relax in at the end of the day. The beds were comfy with plenty of pillows. The dining room was delightful and the staff were well trained and professional and still managed to to make us feel as if they had worked in our family forever and were tremendously fond of us. Over four nights they remembered our every like and dislike. The food was delicious with a menu printed ahead of time so we could choose our night to dine. The included breakfast was appealing to our american standards, though eggs were extra. We loved the "lodge" type livng room. We rang the bell and were brought sandwiches, drinks, snacks and lots of ice when we wished. Open always. First night had a fireplace going. We even played the piano. Finished every afternoon with the cookies which were always waiting. This villa felt like our home away from home. It was peaceful, quiet and beautiful and we were well taken care of by the staff. The property is landscaped beautifully with many shadowed nooks to settle into to read or gaze and sundrenched areas as well to relax. Too early for the pool when we were there. They arranged tours and drivers and cabs. After returning to my life at home, I am considering going back. Now. To my private villa.
