"An oasis in the desert"
My partner & I stayed at this hotel blind (no reviews available) for two nights at the end of our two-week touring holiday in Italy (having started in Rome) in September 2004. It's a modern travel-lodge-type level of hotel (key-entry room has decent en-suite, TV, safe etc.), has the most amazing swimming pool and is built on the edge of the small, run-down town of Siculiana. It's about 20 mins drive to the Valley of the Temples and has views of the surrounding hills. After discovering that the hotel website (---------------------------------------------) fails to give any location maps or directions, I found directions on a web site which incorrectly sited the hotel causing a fair amount of confusion on (non)arrival! It's actually located on the main road in between the two turn-offs for the town, so don't make the mistake of straying into the town... The hotel is a complete contrast to the surrounding poor and barren environment - it is welcoming, clean & tidy, efficiently run and the staff are all pretty friendly. Our last night there saw the biggest storm this year and the only rain in the area for 4 months. All the leaves and other debris were cleared up from the pool and the rest of the complex by the time we had finished breakfast. I would mention that the evening menu choice was rather limited and more surprising is that the options were identical both nights! The food we had was excellent however. Another thing to mention is that the balconies (if you have one) are seperated by railings rather than walls so are far from private, but once you've seen the pool you wouldn't want to sit on your balcony anyway! The final thing to note is that there is a large reception room (probably the only one in the area) and there was a wedding reception both nights, so you may be treated to music and fireworks. On the plus side, we sunbathed around, and swam in, the pool for 3 hours on 15th September and had the whole place to ourselves - heaven! We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.
