" renovated "
Villa Van Gogh Hotel was renovated at the beginning of 2005. So the rooms are clean and comfortable. It's decorated with taste.
Rooms are quite little but it's not disturbing.
Moreover there is air conditionning, and it was very helful during the heat wave.
The reception and the lounge are very cozy. Atmosphere is peaceful and provencal.
The staff is always helful and very friendly.

"Mar 2005 - Easy location for walking to the Seine or Montmartre areas"
Located near Pigalle Metro with easy walking distance to major shopping areas, the River Seine and Montmatre/Sacre Coure districts and the wonderful eateries/ambience around the Place du Tertre & Abbesses. area. An interesting location, especially at some of the "neon lit bars" on the Rue Pigalle up towards the Moulin Rougue... strictly for adults if you know what I mean...!!!
Back at the hotel, each floor is called after a classical artist and the rooms are given arty names...our room was grandly called the "Bains Les 4 de Arts" room on the top "Toulouse Lautrec" floor. It's a small but functional double bedroom with TV with a tiny but again functional ensuite shower room/WC. Rooms are off a tiny hallway and what must be one of the smallest lifts in Paris - for descent we always used the spiral staircase.
The Small reception and breakfast area were brightly, tastefully decorated and furnished although these rooms lacked any sort of atmosphere (although the potential is there) The continental breakfast service could be a little erratic at times, with cereal bowls, spoons and coffee long awaited - but eventually served with a smile. If you like something more substantial or hot croissants, forgo the breakfast and eat in one of many excellent local cafe's or patisseries. The 24hr reception staff are friendly and helpful.
Overall an enjoyable stay, good location, mid priced and will certainly be much improved when the "makeover" is complete.
