"Great stay at the Avalon"
Wonderful stay at the Avalon in late April 2006. Booked a jr suite and all were filled when we arrived and were upgraded to a king suite. After reading recent reviews before our trip, I didn't think we would have the breakfast, but were given vouchers for each day. Breakfast was very good, not the normal continental breakfast. Hot eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, bagels, muffins etc. All the employees treated us very well. Our room was large and very quiet, never heard a siren or the early morning trash trucks. Close to subways and an easy walk to many sites. Saw 'the rat' the morning we left. From the reviews, I wasn't sure what it was all about. Something to do with a labor union. This was my second trip to NYC and would definitely stay at the Avalon again.

"great hotel great value for money"
We stayed at the Avalon Hotel for 6 days, and it was great. The room was big with two doulble beds, sitting area, two tvs, mini fridge, safe, coffee maker and hairdryer. The bathroom was large with a bath and shower. The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were left. The hotel is in a great loction just off 5th ave, close to all the main sights. Just across the road from the empire state building, macys is about 5 min walk and times square is about 10 min walk. We did find the room cold with the air condition but we just asked for it to be turned off which it was straight away and was fine after that. The Avalon is great value for money and if i go back to new york i would stay here again!
