What begins with W�.? This lush downtown hotel is contemporary and hip in design and decor, based on a mix of contemporary and artisic concepts in life that give this chain of hotels it�s sparkle and pop, that �wow� factor. Simply put, live life like art.

First impressions are everything. This 1911 beaux arts Guardian Life building was restored and regenerated to a W hotel. From the wonderful historical surroundings of Union Square, nestled in downtown Manhattan, to the gleaming marble hallways and dramatic sweeping staircase in the lobby, this hotel is sure to leave an lasting impression. The saavy, friendly staff, the luxurious interior, the simple vibrance of decor, is almost zen-like.
People from the neighborhood have been known to slip in to enjoy the special ambience. Rated by a travel magazine in 2006 as �the best travel hotel�, one can see why as this hotel unpretentiously pulls out all of the stops to make every person who walks through their front door feel special. Where else do you know that has a, �Whatever/ Whenever� service for their guests and a fitness area that is open 24 hours, or how about a room-only spa service?

LOCATION

Located in the heart of Manhattan, at Union square, wedged in the middle of uptown and the theatre district and the financial district and soho. This turn of the century masterpiece of a building has always been a jewel for the town. It just got better becoming a hotel.
The area surrounding is full of small intimate neighborhood parks, Grammercy, Stuyvesant, Tompkins Square, to name a few.
Directly at the hotel site on the square, is a big subway stop for a quick hop to a new destination in town. Or walk, like most new yorker�s do. Union square itself, like it�s own neighborhood, also sees lots of life as well, book markets, farmer�s markets, the whole city is teeming with street markets on different weekdays.

Conference Rooms;
There are conference spaces located on the Mezzanine level and second floor, in total, making up seven meeting rooms and four studio-sized rooms perfect for that smaller meeting, along with a 880 square foot Gathering place. For the really big show, at 2300 square feet, the Great Room has been lovingly restored to its 1911 original Beaux Arts decor.

Restaurant and Bars;

Olives
A famed Chef Todd English restaurant venture together with W at Union Square. Wonderful blend of old and new decor with an oriental twist, together with an open kitchen, a fireplace, and a lively bar.
The menu puts a pleasing spin on mainly the Italian and Mediterranean cuisines. Open dining daily starting at 7.00 a.m.

Underbar
Rande Gerber�s brainchild and literally underground, in the basement level of the hotel. Dark and totally swanky, sit in the main room and be the party or hide away in a little private alclove and have a party. Note a dress code is imposed. Open until 2 a.m and until 4 a.m. on friday and Saturday. Serving only alcohol.

Living room
A very popular New York idea, taking the bar to the hotel lobby. With the given name, it denotes more of a lounge feeling. Read quietly, or watch life pass by the square. Drink a cocktail, have a coffee, play a game, discuss the weather. Open until midnight.

For the experienced business traveller there is wireless internet connection throughout the hotel and a wi-fi corner available at an small hourly fee.
