"room service is quite excellent"
Waldorf Astoria Hotel's room service is quite excellent. To catch a cab -- walk away from Times Square -- too much competition. Wireless was free, but not always working.

"very well decorated "
Waldorf Astoria Hotel's rooms are very well decorated but for the price in my opinion too small & as I already said they need to do something to soundproof them. The concierge was very helpful & booked us some very good restaurants near the hotel. Our only meal there was the Sunday Brunch which was wonderful & we will definitely repeat the experience on our next visit to New York.

"Loved the Hotel, Staff and Location"
We stayed in the Waldorf for 5 nights over Easter Weekend and for our first trip to New York this was a wonderfull induction. From the minute we stepped out of the cab the bellman took our bags and directed us to the check-in desk. Every member of staff we came across was not only polite but friendly and always ready with suggestions for things to see and do in the City. The hotel itself is very beautiful in a very traditional sort of way which we loved, good sized, clean rooms with good views of the city (we stayed on the 40th Floor of the Waldorf Towers). During our stay we had drinks in the bar and a meal in Oscars - both very enjoyable. Perfect location for sightseeing and shopping. Although we walked nearly everywhere as we didn't want to miss anything by taking the tube, we did take the Gray Line Open Top Bus Tours which you can hop on/hop off at any sights you want to see more of. Recommend going to the 'Top of the Rock' for brilliant views of the city and much shorter queues then the Empire State Building. We will definitely be back to stay at the Waldorf.

"Wonderful stay at the Waldorf"
My husband and I just returned from celebrating our 25th Anniversary at the Waldorf. We had a lovely stay at the Waldorf. We arrived early in the morning before our room was ready and the staff held our bags so we could go out for the day. The front desk called my cell phone at 12:30 PM to tell me they had a room ready for us. Check in time is 3PM. We did not get back to the hotel until much later and everything was perfect. No trouble checking back in and getting our room key. We had a lovely room. Very clean, well appointed. The bed was fabulous. The Waldorf bedding is superb. In fact, we loved it so much we purchased 4 pillows, the mattress pad and sheets. We had dinner at the Bull and Bear on Saturday before the theatre and the food was fabulous. I had the filet and my husband had the surf and turf. Yes, dinner was expensive but for something special this was the right place. I especially liked the area that the hotel was in. It was walking distance to time square etc, but it was out of all the madness. We found a great deli on 7th Ave and 50th street for breakfast. My husband and I will definitely stay at the Waldorf again. Also, the hotel's website is very helpful. We read almost the entire site and reviewed the menus before we went so there was no surprises as to cost. If fact we booked our dinner reservation before we left for the Bull and the Bear restaurant. In reading this site, we learned about their dress code before we arrived. I would advise reading about the hotel before you go.

"Loved the experience"
Went for a 3 night break Two ladies on a shopping trip. Had a wonderful time, Hotel is enormous!! We stayed in a room with two double beds, It was very clean and spacious. I found the bed very comfortable. The Air conditioning didn't seem to be very effective! I must say it lacked a kettle there was a Coffee maker but that didn't help my tea drinking friend. We ate the basic breakfast and found it amplle with plenty of choice and as much orange juice as they could force down you. The staff were all very helpful and very knowledgable when it came to restaurants, places to go etc. It is still a very opulant hotel even if a few things need bringing up to date. Go and enjoy the experience.

"Wonderful getaway to start the new year"
We just returned from the Waldorf - January 2, 2007 to January 5, 2007. This is simply an elegant hotel - just so New York. We wanted our children 12 and 14 to get a true New York experience so we went all the way. Although the Plaza would have been our first choice in the "old days" since they are under renovation and we had stayed at the Waldorf before on business and always found it to be very nice we thought it would be a good choice and that it was. We had a mini suite with 2 bathrooms, and yes, it was old, but done so tastefully and in such timeless decor. The location is just the best, and one our children will never forget - we walked everywhere - central park, times square, 5th avenue, you name it. We also visited ground zero that was so very sad. We truly knew the World Trade Centers with the 5 buildings and spent so much time in meetings at the Windows on the World Club. Without seeing and knowing the "before" I think our children simply saw it as a "construction site."They understand how many lives were lost, but to truly understand the devistation was difficult for them as they saw us with tears in our eyes.

"Loved The Waldorf"
Me and my husband stayed at The Waldorf for 5 nights from December 30th to January 4th. I'd always wanted to stay there and my expectations were high. We were told check-in time was 3pm but we had arrived early (just after 2pm) and thought we'd see if we could check-in early. We were expecting a wait to be honest but there was no problem and the extremely friendly and helpful Timothy checked us in. The room was a decent size (1 bed king room) and was extremely clean and comfortable. The bathroom was perfectly adequate with space for toiletries and was spotlessly clean. We had pre-arranged champagne afternoon tea and it was fabulous. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly without being over the top. We had room service a couple of times and the service, again, was excellent. It was also the nicest burger and fries we had during the whole trip! The hotel certainly has the wow factor especially in the lobbies and we can't wait to go back. The only negative I could find was when we sat in Sir Harry's bar one evening. The service was slow and the waitress got me the wrong drink - twice! However, I wouldn't let this put me off - we went in the bar on our last day and the service was faultless. A fantastic, traditional hotel that we loved.

"What a Grand Hotel!"
We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Jan 2007, with Hilton Honors points. There was a short wait to check in but staff and customers, alike, were very courteous. I think it's fair to say that my husband and I were thrilled with this hotel. Our room was very spacious and nicely appointed. We stayed in the "Astor Suite" It boasts a living room, bedroom, 2 bathrooms & 2 TV's. It was quiet, clean and very comfortable (also had plenty of closet space and nice robes). The staff was friendly, attentive and very helpful. We also enjoyed room service, having lobster & steak, both were prepared perfectly, and arrived to the room on a quaint little table with white linens and serving domes. What a treat! It was a pleasure to experience such a NYC landmark. We'll definitely stay at the Waldorf next time we are in the city.

"Great vacation"
We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria for Christmas vacation the week of December 26 2005 thru January 2 2006. This is a lovely and Grand Hotel, and still has that elegance and glamour that is well-known for, plus it offers a great location. The lobby is a great place to sit and people watch, but who would want to do that in New York City. Service at check-in was polite, helpful and super fast, our rooms were clean with a large bathroom and the beds were very comfortable. This was our first trip to New York City, and we had a great time, can't wait to go back for Christmas vacation again and of course we will stay at The Waldorf Astoria one more time.

"The best!"
Stayed at the Waldorf for 5 nights with my wife. We both loved it. At the check-in I asked to have a room as high up as possible and they upgraded our room for free. From the 25th floor we had a splendid view of the Chrysler building. I paid 300 dollars per night. In my opinion it was definitelly worth it. Everything was first class. The bed was comfortable, the room was large and in good shape (considering the age of the hotel), the furniture was elegant. The hotel has some rules for the customer's clothing. For example T-shirts are not allowed in the lobby. I saw some people wearing just T-shirts and nobody seemed to mind, but my recommendation is: take your better shirts with you, because you'll feel better, when you are dressed appropriately. It is a walking distance from Waldorf to the theaters at Times Square or the shop at 5th Avenue or to the Central Park. Alamo car rental is only one block from the hotel. We ate room service breakfast one morning. It was mouthwatering, but the total cost for 2 persons was over 60 dollars. So if your budget is not limitless, you might consider eating out. On the other hand if money is no problem for you, then you'll be delighted with the restaurants at Waldorf.
