The heart of Greenwich Village is right on the doorstep of this 3 star property, the family-owned and run, Washington Square Hotel.
This nine-floor, Art Deco-accented hotel built in 1902 was expanded in 2002. A recreation of the original façade decorates the exterior, mosaic artworks by co-owner Rita Paul adorn the interior walls, and a skylight illuminates the central stairwell. Guests are mostly vacationers, although some business travelers also stay at the hotel.
Visitors to the Soho, Greenwich Village and Tribeca areas will appreciate this hard-to-beat location which is in the midst of it all.
* North Square Restaurant and Lounge:
Washington Square’s downstairs restaurant serves a New American menu with Central American and Asian touches. Decorated with plum-colored booths, the room has a partial view of the sidewalk and serves a Continental breakfast, as well as lunch, dinner, and a jazz brunch on weekends. It also features an extensive international list of 127 wines. The lounge is furnished with tan ostrich-skin barstools and copper tables, and serves seasonal cocktails.
* Deco Room:
Located on lobby level. Intimate setting with warm, tiled decor; banquettes, and Art Deco accents, such as 1920s-style sconces. Menu of pressed paninis and other light snacks; high tea, dinner, and cocktails served.
* The high-speed Internet access is available in the lobby and café, and the front desk provides complimentary fax and copy services, as well as concierge services.
* Use of the fitness center, which includes weights and exercise equipment, is available with a personal trainer available by appointment. A facility for massage, facials, and microdermabrasion is on-site.
