  Hotel Information

Whistlers Inn help make your vacation memorable.

Whistlers Inn Hotel is centrally located in the heart of Jasper National Park townsite within walking distance of all shops, services and outdoor mountain activities. The Inn boasts a cozy alpine atmosphere and 64 spacious guest rooms, many with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges.

1925 was the official year for completion of the Canadian National Railway Station situated in the centre of what was eventually to be called the townsite of Jasper. Rail travel was glamorous in the 1930s and 1940s and Jasper National Park was among one of the most popular destinations for celebrities and movie stars of that era. As travel and trade increased, the small town of Jasper flourished into a town offering a Trading Post, Firehall, Post Office, General Store and Hotels. One of these Hotels, known back then as the Pyramid Hotel, grew and became what today is known as the Whistlers Inn Hotel.

Amenities provided by the Whistlers Inn include two fine restaurants, a charming pub offering light meals and eight varieties of ale on tap, three gift shops, a currency exchange, steam room and an outdoor rooftop hot tub. Parking and ski lockers are located on the premises. The Whistlers Inn is also home to the Den, Jasper's Wildlife Museum with realistically displayed wildlife in life-like habitats.

The friendly and knowledgable staff at Whistlers Inn are able to provide you with information on all of Jasper National Park's attractions and can also offer suggestions on how to best enjoy your time in Jasper, Alberta, Canada.

Whistlers Inn is also home to the Den, Jasper's Wildlife Museum with realistically displayed wildlife in life-like habitats.

Golf, tennis, hiking, fishing along with white water rafting and mountain biking take place in the summer months. Downhill skiing, back country skiing, skating and sleigh rides are all part of the winter months.

Jasper is the largest and most northerly of the four Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks which comprise the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its scenery is rugged, including deeply gouged Maligne Canyon and picturesque Maligne Lake. "Great central location"
We stayed at the Whistler's Inn in late December. Its central location right across from the train/bus station makes it convenient for travlers arriving by public transportation and especially in winter for those not wishing to risk a long walk in subzero temperatures. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, and the toiletries in the bathroom were top quality. The hydrating lotion was especially welcome on the dry days of winter. The hotel restaurant, Caledonia Grill, serves excellent food in attractive surroundings (we had freesh salmon) and has a great Merlot house wine. The special hot coffees (or chocolate if you wish) tasted especially good on the cold days. Get them in the restaurant, not in the pub where they aren't as hot, nor as good. The hotel has a lively pub where one can sit in cozy chairs around a fire enjoying a favorite beverage. On the roof there is a hot tub and in the basement, a wildlife museum. Parking lot is small. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and always anxious to please. I would definitely stay there again.

"A jewel in Jasper"
We stayed in Japer in the middle of a trans-canadian trip last autumn, Jasper itself was everything we expected it to be scenic, fresh, plenty to see and do without being packed out with lots of tourists, maybe this was due to the time of year. The weather in early October was perfect, quite cold but fresh in the morning with really bright sunshine coming over Whistler Mountain and t-shirt weather in the afternoon. Arriving by train, The Whistler Hotel could not be more well positioned, directly across the road and very central, although Jasper only being a small townsite nowhere is hard to get to and all trips have pick-up points nearby. Our hotel room was of a really good size overlooking the green with the tourist informtion centre and having the mountains as a backdrop, it was exceptionally clean with all mod cons and a big bathroom. The staff were really friendly and would go out of their way to please, with only a spending couple of days there, one receptionist rung everywhere to help us organise one of our trips, which we were very grateful for. The hotel offers a its own bar, the Whistle Stop, a restaurant (breakfast was good) and even a small museum below which is worth a look around. We didn't make it to the rooftop jacuzzi but definately will next time around. Jasper has a good selection of restaurants, cafe's and shops which are all located a few minutes walk away. Try the salmon or any other fish for that matter as it's so fresh and tasty. Only there for a very short stay of 2 nights we managed to fill our time well and caught the last trip out on Maligne Lake which was spectacular. The still and quietness on a lake in the middle of the rockies was unbelievable, this was something we had only seen on TV beforehand and found it hard to beilieve this wonderful sight was right there in front of us. A trip up Whistler Mountain is also a must for the veiws alone, we tried to walk up to the summitt bit it became a little icy underfoot so retreated to the restaurant for a lovely bowl of hot chilli. Views of the little townsite of Jasper sprawling out below with the rockies all around were absolutely breath-taking and highgly recommended. On our last morning we had arranged a helicopter trip with "High Country Helicopters" through the mountains taking off from Hinton (just north of Jasper). We were picked up at our hotel by a very friendly man , Jalmar, who stoped for us to take photos of elk and bigh horn sheep at the roadside on the way and took us back home afterwards too. The 30 min trip itself was great, a real experience in and out of the rockies and trailing the Athabasca river below. We only wish we could've stayed longer and hope to return in the next couple of years.

"Loved this hotel"
We booked this hotel for three days as we thought it sounded a good location, despite comments from someone who complained of smell of smoking. We stepped off the train from Toronto and there it was across the street. While all the others waited for transport we wheeled our luggage across the road. It is very central and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was a delight and one of the best we have had in five weeks of travel in Canada and the States. A large very comfortable room with a view of the mountains. Not a smell of smoke anywhere-believe me as a recent quitter I would have noticed!-and even the pub inside the hotel was smoke free. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
