"Worked well for us"
Stayed here for two nights. Had one of the rooms with a balcony, incredible view. Right across street from Copacabana beach. Everyone says not to take anything of value to beach, we heeded the advice and left our things at the hotel. Was nice to just walk to the beach with a towel, small change, and not need anything else. Staff was professional. Taxi stand outside hotel; at hotel staff’s suggestion we used it to go to Christ in Rio De Janeiro (wonderful cab driver). There is also a supermarket nearby so you can purchase water/snacks instead of using the overpriced mini bar. As a woman I felt comfortable walking around the area by myself during the day, at night I’d stick with the buddy system (as in all big cities).

"Best Location on the Beach in Copcabana"
The Miramar Palace Hotel is one of the great hotels of Rio. It was built in anticipation of the World Cup many years ago when luxury hotels were few in Rio. American diplomats stayed at this hotel when assigned to Rio, and it was used by Panamerican Airlines for all of their crew. The hotel knows how to treat guests. While it is not new, it is one of the most famous hotels of Rio. I've stayed at the new hotels in Rio, too. They have nothing over the Miramar, which boasts one of the nicest restaurants overlooking Copacabana Beach. Our bathroom was all marble, and service was great. Located within walking distance of everything in the Zona Sur. It sits in an unparalled location on Copacabana Beach. It was selected years ago as the best spot around. It still is. I've been staying here since 1961.

"Excellent Hotel"
My stay at the Miramar hotel was a great one. I expected an average stay but was surprise that it was more enjoyable than expected. The staff was very friendly and spent a few hours talking to the workers. They were eager to know me as I was to to know them. My stay was so enjoyable that I requested the same hotel on my next trip next March(2007).
