"Wyland Waikiki Hotel is modern, clean"
Wyland Waikiki Hotel is modern, clean, fresh and well located for getting around Waikiki and beyond. The main buses all pass by the Wyland and stop just outside.
The staff are super friendly and efficient and unless you want to spend a lot of time in your hotel, or want a beachfront property, the Wyland has all you need. The bar is nice and the barstaff really friendly.

"Great newly renovated hotel"
My husband and I returned from a one week stay at the Wyland Waikiki last week. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
We have both been to Hawaii many times in the past and I think this place represents the best value for money of all the places we have stayed. I booked through Travelocity and got a great super saver special including one free night. I also contacted the hotel directly after booking to ensure they had our reservation and received a quick response confirming our booking. We had let them know it was our one year wedding anniversary and on arrival found we had been upgraded to a partial ocean view suite.
The room was great, everything was new and tastefully decorated. We had a lounge/dining area with a flat screen tv and a kitchen with fridge, microwave, coffeemaker (with daily complimentary coffee) and sink. The bathroom had a movable shower head over the bath with good pressure. There was a large mirror and a swivel magnifying mirror also- great for putting on makeup etc.
The bed in the bedroom was extremely comfortable with all new linen (also a flat screen tv in here) and the maids came in not only to clean the room in the morning but also to turn down the sheets in the evening.
Our balcony ran the full length of the lounge and bedroom with tables and chairs to sit on. The partial ocean view is really only a peep of the ocean but I don't think you could go wrong with any of the rooms here as they all appear to have balconies either over the pool area and street or towards the ocean and street. You are not bang up against any other hotel so should get good light into any room here.
The staff were also great and very friendly. There was never a wait at the desk to talk to anyone. We requested ice one night and had it brought to the room. Another time we asked for some wine glasses and these also arrived promptly. We were also given a late checkout on request at no extra charge and had our luggage stored. Currently there is also free internet access in the lobby and a room full of massage chairs for guest use (with a tv and xbox for those inclined) off the lobby. The chairs were great after a day shopping!
The pool area with hot spa was beautifully landscaped and towels are also available here. This area and all the other public areas (including some cool lounge areas in the lobby) were all almost empty most times we were around which was nice. I imagine it will get busier as word gets out but i'd stay here now if you can!
The spa, gym and coffee shop are not yet open but are not really amenities I would usually use anyway. They were doing a little finishing work around the hotel (some tiling and painting) but nothing to interfere with our stay.
Overall the whole hotel with all the Wyland sculptures and art had a small boutique feel that was really nice. It is a few blocks from the beach but still very central for restaurants (who wants to walk too far at night to eat out?) and shopping and there is a bus stop right outside. I highly recommend a stay here.

"Loved the Wyland"
This hotel is so cool. The rooms are great and the public areas are hip and contemporary. The location is a short walk to some of the best shopping I've ever seen! Can't wait to come back

"GREAT Stay - VERY nice hotel"
We had a wonderful stay, the rooms and bathrooms are very clean and you can tell everything is new. The shower stall itself is small but very nice and clean. A microwave, small refrigerator and a sink are in the room. The small/medium sized pool is beautifully landscaped with tiki torches lit at night. The lobby and bar area have great colors, clean lines and is very hip with doors they keep open that lead to the pool. Everyone was very friendly. We went searching for ice one night on our floor and found out that all you have to do is call the front desk and they bring it up to you - very nice.
This is now an Outrigger property and not a Doubletree.
It's still not 100% finished. The bar, coffee shop, restaurant and spa are not open yet but when they do this hotel will really be great. It's not on the water but is within in short walking distance to the main streets. We would definitely recommend to friends and stay here again.
