"I cannot fault this hotel"
I stayed at this hotel from 16th February 2007 to 18th February 2007 having booked through the Expedia website. After a very quick transfer from the airport using the excellent Connexions service, the staff at the reception were very friendly, professional, and efficient and unlike other hotels where the check-in process is more tiring than the 9 hour flight, at the Apollo it was conducted very quickly. Our room was overlooking the marina which looked amazing at night, with the bridges all lit up. The room itself was very large, spotlessly clean and tidy and with all the amenities you would expect including an iron and ironing board. The bed was large and comfortable and extra bedding was availiable in the wardrobe if we needed it. There was his and hers robes and slippers also in the wardrobe. On the morning we availed ourselves of breakfast which I have to say was the best breakfast I have ever had in a 4* hotel, the waiting staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help. Overall I could not fault our stay, the hotel and its location could not have been better, the staff were amongst the friendliest and professional I have found in any hotel around the world. I would highly recommend this hotel to fellow travellers.

"Would definitely stay here again, excellent."
My girlfriend booked this hotel as part of a package through expedia as a surprise trip over the bank holiday weekend and we couldn't fault the hotel at all. When we arrived at the airport we bought train tickets to the centre of Amsterdam but when we asked for directions we were told 'oh no, the hotel is located in the south, near the airport'. I immediately began to worry, thinking that we were going to have a 30min journey each way every time we wanted to get to the city centre from our hotel! However, there was nothing to worry about at all - the hotel is situated 15 mins stroll away from the Van Gogh museum and is located in a very nice and tranquil part of the city - if you're looking to stay somewhere quiet and away from the crowds that swarm the central station area, then this is it! There are fantastic cafes for breakfast lined along the canal as you wander into town and bars to stop off at for a night cap on your way home. All the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. I never really ask hotels for restaurant recommendations as we quite like to decide where to eat ourselves, but on this occasion, having tried to contact our no.1 choice to reserve with no luck, we asked the consierge if he could recommend anywhere that did good, hearty food, in particular, steaks. He recommended somewhere about a 15 min walk away (the name escapes me) and it was tucked down a side street and you wouldn't know it was there but when we entered it was just perfect, every table was taken (apart from our table for two, reserved by the consierge) and the atmosphere was really buzzing, yet intimate. And the food was out of this world and very reasonably priced. The next day we asked the staff to recommend somewhere to eat that night for an authentic Dutch meal and they surpassed themselves! Again, the name escapes me but the food and service and atmosphere couldn't have been better and we love food so this is pretty high praise indeed! Anyway, we'd definitely recommend the Golden Tulip, Apollo - stay there and ask the staff where you should eat and I guarantee you'll have a great time! The hotel itself was quiet, the room was spotless, the shower was powerful and we couldn't fault it. Excellent!
