Comfortable with a brilliant location
The first impression of the 1960s funcionalist exterior might put you off, but don't be fooled. It's had a complete revamp in the last few years and is well worth its 3 stars. It's located about 10 mins walk from the main railway station and about 5 from the market square, so you couldn't wish for a more convenient position. Most of the staff have good English and are always anxious to please, though in a nicely understated way. The restaurant serves a wide range of local and international cuisine at prices that seem crazy to western pockets, a full evening meal with wine and coffee can be had for as little as 60zl (say 3zl to the $, that's $20). The Ritz it ain't, but if you're looking for a comfortable hotel, reasonably priced in a convenient central location, you need look no further |

"I would recommend this hotel"
A modernised hotel to a good standard. It is ideally situated to explore Krakow. The staff were friendly and most spoke English. The restaurant was excellent and VERY reasonably priced. Main course for about £5

"Very good Service"
This was the only Hotel available when I stayed in Krakow for business in Fall of 2005. It was a small room that I was put into, but it suited me fine. The room was very clean each day and the hotel staff was very nice. I was able to book day trips to see the sights from the hotel Lobby and the bus picked me up from reception.
When people say this hotel is close to the main square, they are not kidding. It was seriously only a 5 min walk to the center of Krakow.
I highly recommend this hotel.

First impressions shouldn't count
At first sight the 1960s 'functionalist' exterior is enough to put a lot of people off, but inside it has been completely renovated in the last few years. Rooms are well up to its *** rating and comfortable. Staff are always anxious to please, though in an understated way and most have very good English. The large ground floor restaurant serves a variety of local and international cuisine with a 3-course dinner including wine and coffee typically running to 60-65 PLN, say £12-13 per head. In the small bar a shot of vodka twice the size of an English measure is about £1, but like many Polish vodkas, it's a good substitute for rocket fuel!! Location is excellent, no more than ten minutes' walk from the main station and about half that from the market square. All in all, old-fashioned service and outstanding value. |

Initially, the 1960s 'functionalist' exterior is a bit off-putting, but don't let that fool you! Inside it's had a complete renovation in the last few years and is very comfortable. Its biggest plus is its location, ten minutes' walk from the main railway station and just five from the market square. Staff are alweays anxious to please, though in an understated way and most of them have very good English. Thwe restuarant serves a range of local and internationational cuisine at very reasonable prices, a 3-course dinner with wine running to about 60PLN (say £10 to £12) per head. Strongly recommended. |

Hotel Wyspianski
Well situated for all city sights. We upgraded to a superior room which was well worthwhile as there were lots of student parties on the lower floors. The room was extremely spacious and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of food at breakfast but the choice was rather limited and the same every day. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant which was well presented and reasonably priced. Overall the hotel offered good value for money in this lovely city. |

"great base"
my husband and i stayed here for 4 nights in feb - i reckon that everyone who has posted a review of this hotel just didn't pay the litte extra for a superior room - our room was huge with a double bed and all mod cons - ok you still knew it wasn't ultra modern but you don't expect that - the bathroom was a little small but hey you don't need a huge bathroom anyway!!!
the rooms were always warm and comfortable and the housekeeping excellent - we paid a measly £115 for our double room for 4 nights - so come on people there are hotels in britain that you couldn't even get a room for one night at this price!!
Breakfast was ok - always loads of food and the reception staff were very helpful as were the bar staff - i would have no regrets in reccommending this hotel to anyonw - go there and enjoy the polish hospitality

"Comfy"
The locals still know this hotel as the "Dom Turistiye", which is a hangover from the days of communism, which was a rough and ready hostel for tourists on a tight budget. There has clearly been much redevelopment with soft furnishings and carpeting throughout.
The location is great, just a short walk away from the main square.
The staff all seemed to have an excellent grasp of English, so no problems there.
The price of the room includes a very sumptuous Polish breakfast of cheeses, hams, sausages, eggs etc.
The rooms are small, but then so is the price to stay, but they have en suite shower and toilet (combined), TV and radio. TV reception was not always terribly clear, but there was a good selection of foreign language TV, including Italian, but not English.
On one of the nights, there was international football of the TV so the Ukrainians on my landing got excited at times, and this made me chuckle, and might have annoyed light sleepers.
I would recommend it as a cheap and cheerful place, which is conveniently located, very warm in winter and served by very friendly staff.

"Good central hotel"
Stayed here in November 2005 as part of a 3 night break costing £140 pp. The hotel is centrally located and quiet; all rooms are twin with the beds arranged end to end against one wall which seemed odd at first but worked OK. Room was warm and clean and plenty of hot water (shower). Reception staff spoke excellent English and were well informed and helpful. The breakfast was very good indeed, juices, cereals, cheese and meat plus cooked sausages and eggs and a good selection of breads.
The only blip was one evening when we stayed in for dinner; we had drinks and good starters and then waited over an hour for our main course! We paid and left! There are very good restaurants within 10 minutes of the hotel, on the main square, and one has no reason to need to eat in the hotel.
Apart from this, an excellent good value and central hotel.
